40 games into the season Burnley 8 points clear of 2nd place yet you would still have this odd nonsense trotted out about who we have played.

There will be real disappointment inside some if we were to win the next 4 or 5 games leaving them unable to continue with this nonsense.
Some fans don't want us playing the ball in the air or on the ground.

Are you making assumptions about the relative size and strength of teams in the division ahead of actual results?

We've done well against side at the bottom of the division. So, you may have a point but I;m not sure what it is based upon.

The results of 13 games is good but it will be a lot better in a months time when we have played most of the current top half of the table. And even better by mid Dec when we've played over 20 games.

I think based upon 13 games we are as good as anyone in the division with the one caveat I'd like to see us play Norwich and Sheffield Utd. Is that not entirely reasonable?
I thought my point was pretty clear
That is- it's hard to predict results in the Championship and league position is not necessarily a significant indicator.
You only have to look at results over the past 7 days or so.
Some people had Sheff Utd top of the league and already promoted this time last week.
2 defeats against supposedly mediocre teams has changed all that.

Sheffield United's problem is not the randomness of results but an injury crisis.

Norwich are similar. Their loss at home to Preston is not such a surprise when you look at their results against other better teams. It was quite predictable.

Some teams have come and gone but if a team has won 6 or 7 games and been in the top ten for a quarter of the season we can make certain assumptions about them, which is not perfect but better than any other way of doing it.

Maybe true, but isn't that another reason why league position isn't necessarily an accurate indication of the strength of the opposition you play on the day?
I would argue ( for example) that WBA looked really good against us, but we were a seriously jaded and under- par team that evening.

The manager of Luton thinks we are the best team in the league.

Which Norwich players are injured ?
They looked like they had their usual team out to me with a strong bench aswell.

We're one of the best now but in the second half of the season we'll be pumping teams every week.
I reckon we'll buy a pacy striker in January, at that point we've got cover and quality rotations in all positions for when injuries and suspensions start to bite. Westy will be back to give Cork and Cullen a break. VK will have worked out the best opponents and situations for your Bensons, Zarourys, Churlinovs, Tellas and Vitinhos. Twine will be no.10 and scoring long range shots and free kicks every week.

I love this positivism.

I'll re-write it.

Sheffield United's problem is not the randomness of results but an injury crisis.

Norwich are similarly unaffected by the randomness of results. Their loss at home to Preston is not such a surprise when you look at their results against other better teams. It was quite predictable

I love this positivism.
Positivism is an insult for those who over-claim on complex social issues based upon empirical data.
