Yes I noticed he was giving decisions to Sunderland by mistake

Saw the Burnley cops all running to a pretty brutal spat near the SoL Metro Station.
As for the stoppage the referee seemed to chat for quite some time to Craig Bellamy and then Mowbray
Unfortunately I witnessed the trouble near metro station with my daughter who was scared to death . Burnley youth gobbing off singing 2 nil and you ****** it up !
They took a right beating and did a runner
Re: Game stopped at 2-0
Which is just what their fans would have been singing if roles were reversed!

If the game was stopped due to missiles being thrown, I feel like we would have seen a tweet and/or a club statement condeming it.

Any reporting of a young Burnley fan getting a glass smashed over his head, by those well behaved Sunderland fans?

I posted earlier on this thread that the game was stopped due to a communications problem for the referee, nothing more, and that came from the referee himself.

Re: Game stopped at 2-0
There is a youtube video posted by a Sunderland fan suggesting that a young child was hit by a Vapey thing.
Not sure what goes through someone's head to launch such a thing onto opposing fans: drink probably, but even if you have no empathy for the well-being of others there must be some realisation that you could face serious consequences if you hurt someone.

Re: Game stopped at 2-0
All the post match accounts are it was a technical issue only.
Someone from BFC might want to ask why the Stadium of Light Twitter account posted this during the game then:
"Further incidents of fans in the North Stand upper throwing missiles into the lower section of the crowd will result in today’s game being stopped for a second time and could result could result in the players leaving the field of play."
https://twitter.com/StadiumOfLight/sta ... gr%5Etweet
That Tweet was shared onto the BBC matchday feed. Not exactly a good look for our Club

Be happy walking off, but why feel the need to goad fans outside their own ground?
I’d fully expect someone to shut me up if I stood there with my arms out taking the ****.

Re: Game stopped at 2-0
The best bit was that group of kids (8? 9? years of age) outside the away end in Burnley gear just singing "BURNLEY, BURNLEY, BURNLEY" at the top of their voices
Some sort of youth team?
Made me giggle anyway
Keeping the smile from my face was fairly hard on the long walk back up the road to where we parked the car

Re: Game stopped at 2-0
A few of our youngsters were a bit lively and celebrating outside the ground. The incident looked like it was at the start of the bridge. We were about 50m down the road. A few Burnley lads ran past. One was bleeding from the head. We carried on chatting away with the locals who were great. Then their kids ran past looking for a fight. All were under eighteen. The injured lad was in the multistory car park across the bridge. I told him to keep his head down and that the Sunderland thugs were still looking for him. He was stood with some elderly Clarets. Hope he got home OK and it was all minor.
Edit: I had a great time and I still like Sunderland and the locals. Hope they survive this season.

I think what Tony is saying is that there were two incidents here. The club are reporting that the game was stopped because of fan behaviour.Bosscat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 5:28 pmSorry CT but BFC have said they are investigating after a child was injured due to items being thrown ...

It wasn’t: it was stopped because of a communication error (goal line tech I think), but at the same time, an issue was taking place in the away end which quite rightly needed condemning.

Re: Game stopped at 2-0
I've logged on to specifically answer this. The person who stopped the game was the referee. We spoke to the referee and he told us that the reason the game was stopped was because of a communication issue he had. I've no argument with our club investigating an incident but that was not why the game was stopped.Bosscat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 5:28 pmSorry CT but BFC have said they are investigating after a child was injured due to items being thrown ...

Sunderland have been my second team since I was a kid in the 1970's. Now I live in the North East and have friends who are Black Cats and also some Magpies. Delighted when you were promoted back to Championship. Good Luck for the remainder of the season.

Peter Noble Jacka? Absolute Legend! He had a stall on Burnley Market. We used to spend all our pocket money there buying Burnley Scarves and badges.

Re: Game stopped at 2-0
Look I love seeing the younger fans enjoying the game. I wasn't there on Saturday but from what I saw on the highlights it was a joy to see our fans really come alive and get behind the team after we scored our first goal. There have been reports of younger supporters being off their faces on drink and whatever else they can get their hands on. Throwing missiles if true, is not what we want to see and if my 8 year old was hurt I would be seriously ****** off. Football should be a family game and by that I mean safe to take the kids along. After all they are our young supporters of the future.Les Lawrence wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 5:58 pmAye let's all liick those.lovely Sunderland fans arses, and slag off our younger fans and call them Bellends. Age has nothing to do with it, a bell end is a bell end, and any moron giving it large to the opposition fans, in an aggressive manner gets what he deserves.
There's banter from all sides, but once the game is over, or before the match, it's just football fans enjoying the company of other football fans.
Thousands of Burnley fans walked back to their buses, or cars, amongst some very sad Sunderland supporters, and had no problem whatsoever. In fact they were very complimentary, considering they blew a 2 goal lead. There isn't any need to get in any ones face, and those that do reap what they sow.

Re: Game stopped at 2-0
Not wanting to disagree with anyone on here but two things spring to mind as I’m reading through this thread.
1). Whatever the reason(s) for the game being stopped on Saturday, it’s irrelevant because it is clear that some of our fans were throwing things at their supporters and a child has been hurt.
2). It doesn’t matter what team you support, fighting, throwing things at other folk, goading/swearing at others pre/during/post game etc is unacceptable. Every team has its fair share of ‘bellends’ and I personally don’t want to be anywhere near them when attending a game of football with my son. Either behave or accept a banning order and don’t come back.
Onwards and upwards; bring on the next game! UTC

That was my first game since Aberdeen at home I loved it and so did my 2 kids but it is things like the throwing incident and the fighting that put me off taking my kids and going again full stop makes me so sad. Me and my sons walked past the Burnley busses chatting to Sunderland fans along the way without an issue we could have been caught up in the trouble. I’m not prepared to out my kids through that crap as I know it will put them off going for life.

Based on the sentencing the last lot got that 'couldn't wait to cause trouble' at a derby match, I'd be very surprised if they get to attend the reverse fixture should they achieve their aim.
