Have been concerned about our ability to defend set pieces against the bigger teams since the start of the season. If plan A is to keep possession and keep them at arms length it feels like we need a plan B

Muric 6
Vitinho 5
THB 6
Bayer 5
Maatsen 5
Cork 6
Cullen 6
Zaroury 5
Bastion 5
Benson 8
Tella 5

By half time genuinely I’d forgotten Bastien was playing. I dread corners, set plays. We defend like schoolboys, no real presence. If VK is serious about promotion we need a dominant centre back in the Jan window. Yes Muric over several games has made some good saves but he’s another that’s not dominant enough for a tall lad. Too much flapping and if the balls not in his reach as a shot comes in he makes no effort to go for it.

Now I’ve calmed down

Muric 5 some excellent saves but we needed him to attack some crosses/ throws
Vitinhio 4 1 good game in 5 ain’t enough for me, escapes criticism from most because he’s Brazilian
Matsen 4
Beyer 4
THB 5
Zaroury 4
Benson 7
Cullen 4
Cork 4
Bastien 4
Tella 4

Muric 3 pinned to his line, an inability to command his 6 yard line never mind box cost us a couple today, THB gave him some strong words more than once. Distribution also rank today gave it straight to them in the middle of the park at least twice
Vitinhio 4 just as bad as Wednesday, thought he was lucky to start, can't allow 2 bad games in a row. Seems uninterested in the defensive side
Matsen 5
Beyer 4 a few surging runs, but can't give higher as defensively naive and got bossed
THB 5 good with the ball, but doesn't have the danger nose CB need, and got schooled by those who've been around the block
Zaroury 6 though he was ok 1st half, got a bit of joy.
Benson 8 looked a constant threat and had his MSN on toast and dud him multiple times
Cullen 5 busy as per, but offers nowt going forward as per
Cork 6 thought he did ok 1st half
Bastien 5 busy but lacks the quality
Tella 4 a couple of quiet ones now for him, looks shattered very early, think the week off will do him some good

A tough game today v the land of giants, it seemed every poor decision by us or an official led to a goal today.
It was just one of those games, it wouldn't have mattered if it was Southend United or Sheffield United throwing them balls in today, we just never got near the 1st, 2nd and sometimes even 3rd contact in our box today and that's not good enough.

I think it was a case of 1 game too many, and quite an inexperienced side championship wise with missing Brownhill and Jay.

2 losses in 20, and we reacted well after our last loss, let's hope that's the case again.
If we only lose 2 of the next 20 we will be in the shake up for the automatics.

Let's bounce back on Sunday!
