Re: Favourite season
I don’t remember the year, but it was Stan’s first season in charge. We’d been shocking and he was a breath of fresh air. Especially the radio interview when he announced the players that had been substituted that day would never play for Burnley again. Onwards and upwards from then on. IMO he and Barry saved our club.

But it used to be a stand out on its own, now there are lots of seasons that push it hard, including this.

Re: Favourite season
The small number of remaining Clarets who remember the 59-60 season and the following season too would definitely place one or the other ahead of any other season since then. In the first, we won the football league
Division 1 (equivalent to the Premier league) but in the second we played such brilliant football that we should have won so much but we didn’t have the depth in the squad to achieve anything. You have to be aged approx 70 at least to have watched the brilliant Clarets of that era.

It’s a real shame there is a lack of footage from that era.Frenchclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:54 pmThe small number of remaining Clarets who remember the 59-60 season and the following season too would definitely place one or the other ahead of any other season since then. Before my time but I’d love to see some of the players my older relatives rave about.

1972-73. I was too young to see the side play in the early sixties so this was the first time I saw us win anything. It was fantastic.
