West Brom will have a cup replay three days before they play us.
Re: Today's Football 7/01
Don't understand Newcastle making so many changes when they're going so well and not won anything for so long.

Can't harm our prospects that, though whether they'll play their 1st XI is doubtful.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 7:35 pmWest Brom will have a cup replay three days before they play us.

He’s never been a good finisher when there’s time to finish, always better with the quick instinctive finishes

Re: Today's Football 7/01
Huge upset given how well Newcastle are going in the PL. Their dire FA Cup record continues as they crash out early again.
Re: Today's Football 7/01
Accrington Stanley/ Borehamwood or Leeds......if they can scrape through...home or away it doesn't matter.
Re: Today's Football 7/01
Oh dear. Goofy won't be happy about that. These goalkeepers???
Re: Today's Football 7/01
Shocking by Allison. Mental that elite level keepers make mistakes, I thought they wouldn’t, given Championship keepers aren’t allowed to.

There should be no VAR in the FA cup as most of the teams do not have it.

Re: Today's Football 7/01
Agree. Who cares about marginal offside. Some go for you some go against, as illustrated in this match. It was just a great cup tie.

Re: Today's Football 7/01
How was Salah not offside? The defender had to go for it, he wasn’t to know he was off. I don’t know who dreams these laws up but they know nothing about football.
Re: Today's Football 7/01
Surely as soon as the ball is passed forward Salah is offside, end of.

Re: Today's Football 7/01
How is it a level playing field when some Cup games have VAR and some don't ?
There wasn't even goalmouth technology available at Hillsborough !!!!

Re: Today's Football 7/01
Its an absolute nonsense rule.
What’s the defender meant to do? Leave it and hope / guess he’s offside?

Re: Today's Football 7/01
To be fair it is a level playing field. The teams in each match are playing to the same rules. I don’t see the issue.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 9:16 pmHow is it a level playing field when some Cup games have VAR and some don't ?

Having said that I’d prefer not to have var in all games.

Re: Today's Football 7/01
Not really. The rule, for example, allows an attacker to latch onto a back pass without being offside. This is as distinct from a deflected shot where the contact is unintentional and would be deemed offside.
Re: Today's Football 7/01
In this case the defender is jumping to clear the ball, to stop the (offside) player from getting it, he should not be penalised for stopping a ball getting to an offside player, simple.
