You just know that when the players behave like that in the second half, it's almost always down to the ref's performance in the first.

Another question to answer: should a referee add on time for a goal celebration?
Goal celebrations seem to get longer match by match.

I didn't find a single football fan who wasn't delighted at how additional time was handled during the World Cup.

Players wasted time, the referees added on that time and ensured their actions were pointless.

EVERYBODY I know praised it.

We get back to the domestic league and our referees are once again tacitly encouraging time wasting, making a rod for their own backs.

Interesting that there are lots of comments on this thread - not just ratings. I put a comment on a recent rate the ref thread which got deleted for some reason and led me to believe comments probably aren't allowed. Probably depends who you are....
the whole feature could be renamed "how bad I am at rate the ref having watched it back on tv"

As for Spice's point as to it being an exercise in ref-bashing, it's a sad feature of every club's fans' forums. I make a habit of running our match thread and the opponents match thread during live games. I think the Watford game was 5 minutes old when the ref was called out as being employed by Burnley FC. Each set of fans genuinely believes the ref is favoring the other team

When a crowd sings you don’t know what you are doing after 20minutes. You do worry.
The best refs you rarely notice, this fella made himself the centre of attention immediately.
He didn’t get a lot a wrong, but felt he had, in my opinion to make a decision on everything. Over officious which probably helped Watford as it was very stop start. The fact he was listening to Joao Pedro all evening, didn’t endear him to the home crowd.

A. Decision Making -16
B. Consistency - 14
C. Fitness and Positioning - 20 the ball didn’t touch him once.
D. Control and Authority - 9 never seen a referee call the captains over so many times in one game, a futile exercise if ever I saw one.

Hadn't realise it was the hopeless ref who added all those minutes, so we could beat Rotherham.
