Led 1-0 when it was abandoned with the goal scored by Arthur Ogden and the same player scored both of our goals when it was replayed. it was the fourth round of the FA Cup.
And no, unlike you winsomeyen, I wasn't there.

It's brilliant that you still have that book, a real connection to the past.
Not so much a book, Goody1975......More a collection of random notes......but more intriguing each time I go back to them......Football was clearly so different back then.
From a Burnley perspective, in terms a real progress, everthing seems to revert to that 1912/13 season when we were promoted to Division One. The likes of Bert Freeman and Richard Lindley were really making their mark and the following season we reached the FA Cup Final beating Liverpool 1-0. Tommy Boyle was also starting to have a massive influence at this time.
Can't establish whether Grandad actually made the Final, but, no matter, he was clearly so proud of his local team's achievements at that time......Then WW1 intervened, before we became an even greater force following the end of the War......and Tommy Boyle was even more influential in the 30 games unbeaten in1920/21.

I think Mr Pace should get in touch with Preston and see if they can put a screen up there and then we take 7k fans to Preston to watch it which will really show Blackburn up and likely turn us into national heroes
If someone can pen a letter to Mr Pace as quickly as possible as we will need to act fast around this to make it work

The stop the game it's snowing was against Manchester United. Played on 6th March 1909, Burnley led 1-0 when the referee called it off with 18 minutes remaining. It was played again three days later with United winning 3-2. The referee was Mr Herbert Bamlett who five years later refereed our FA Cup final against Liverpool.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Except the real story, as Goody1975 has already made perfectly clear, happened 18 years earlier in 1891.

All the generations of football are different but intriguing none the less, it's the competition that bridges the divide that time puts between them.
If a player was the best in the 1920's or 60's it's relative to now.
Nobody can say how good Tommy Lawton, Duncan Edwards, Jimmy Greaves, Jimmy McIlroy or George Best would be in todays football but if they were the best of their generation they'd be one of the best now.
Just different eras but class transcends time.

"Class transcends time".......Just loving that.
Just how good was Tommy Boyle, and his side either side of the World War ?
Captain of the Cup winners, then Captain of the League Champions.
Broken hero ?......Maybe in the end, but simply hero for me.....and Grandad.

Yes, to continue to play at that level and even improve with such a time gap is unbelievable and the significance can't be underestimated.

Stan Lynn a full back who went to Villa or Brum I believe.
Jimmy Harrower(spelling) left half or number 6. Played against his son also called Jimmy.
George Stewart Centre forward with a crew cut. Not sure if he played fir Scotland but think he was looked at. Can't remember which club he moved too but it would have been an upwards move.
A few years later Mike Ferguson who went to the darkside.
A decent keeper not very tall but might also gave been a few years later. Another upwards move I think.
Think one or two more or I might have a Google.

I’ve emailed the club asking that they send the tickets back and put a big screen on. I’m saying that as a sth with well over 6k points. I’ll enter the ballot if they don’t send them back because it would be pointless as a one man protest!
Are you for real? You want our club to send the tickets back (can they do this?) as a boycott, but if they don’t you’re going to enter the ballot and attend if successful?
Has it occurred to you that if it’s just a one man protest then you’re the only person who wants to protest? Why would you be selfish enough to want to stop 2000 Burnley fans who want to attend this fixture from doing so whilst at the same time being one of those 2000 fans if given the chance?

My memory did OK there. Also just seen via Google George Hudson who moved to Peterboro and then Coventry, hit some good numbers there as a centre forward.

Yes, I am for real. I’d love them to send them back but if the don’t then of course I’m going to enter that ballot. I’m absolutely certain that there are many others who feel the same way however there’s absolutely no chance that nobody would buy tickets if they were on sale, hence why I’d enter.

Because it wouldn't make any difference, only a full club boycott would work, which is what I think should happen, but as its not I'll be applying

Nobody would notice if I wasn’t there so the protest wouldn’t have any effect. If we didn’t sell any tickets it would.

Unfortunately, when you look at what PL clubs offer (3000 out of a capacity of 61,000 at Spurs) the 2000 tickets Rovers are giving us, compared to the 2,200 we gave them, isn't much of a news story outside of both clubs.
Thus I suspect from an outside neutral point of view, any boycott of tickets would seem a bit childish.

But you can make a point if you want to boycott the game. For those who don't want to boycott why should the club deprive them of being able to attend the game just because you want to boycott it?

I understand your point, the issue for me is that they have given us many more in the past and could easily have done so this time.

I would support a full boycott
That's not happening so I'll go if possible

Not surprised at the low allocation. Our fans couldn’t behave at Blackpool never mind Ewood for a night game.

Fighting in the stands with each other, excessive drug use and the other think that’s not really relevant to be mentioned.

Boycott. This would punish our own fans and rovers would love that. Most stupid idea i have ever seen on this forum and that is saying something with the dregs of society on here who constantly post drivel for 15 hours a day.
Compared to you I’m quite warming to these blackburn fans.
Q : What’s lower down the chain of society than a bastards fan ?
A : a defence lawyer
Q : what’s lower than a defence lawyer ?
A : someone pretending to be a defence lawyer.

Goody....back to the football.
Talk to us about Tommy Boyle......captain of the FA Cup winners in 1914......off to fight for King and country in WW1, only to return to BFC and the First Division title in 1921......Is there a finer football story, ever ?

Not at all, the incident with the lad at the end of the game was him being off his tree and apparently threatening a women with her child, which was dealt with by people in the vicinity. The people at the game said he was like this during the match and perhaps if the stewards had done their jobs he would have been escorted out or refused entry before the incident happened.
The general issue regarding drug use is a football wide/society problem not isolated within our fanbase, these same fans attended the games at Wigan and Preston in very large numbers and don't think there was any widespread disorder.
