Superb. I think its a good idea. Maybe not shouting "cheat" at the end, that was a little in jest. But it has come to the point where this cheating is accepted. You could argue that we could fall on the wrong side of it at some point. But I'd happily accept that if it makes the game better

Simple
Book every player who stops to take their shin pads off on the pitch when they have been subbed off
Refs also need to follow the rule of making players go off at the nearest side of the pitch

I'd go as far as saying it's a booking for each shin pad. Otherwise it really doesn't mean much if you're coming off anyway, unless already booked

I also think the time-wasting punishments also need to be introduced from the outset - countless teams have clearly been playing for a draw against us from minute 1. Book someone in the 10th minute and it'll nip it in the bud

If someone is on 9 bookings though and they get a booking for shin pads they will miss 2 games so it should start to stop them doing it

That's only a tiny minority of players though. And provides no advantage to their current opposition, who are the ones missing out on the time to play

I don't think I've ever seen a keeper penalised for retaining the ball too long.

Liverpool v Bordeaux, Mignolet holds the ball for 22 seconds (the rule is 6 seconds the GK can hold the ball). The ref blows the whistle and Bordeaux got an indirect FK and scored from it.

It's an absolute joke though, Sunderland GK had it in his hands for way over 6 seconds, dropping to the floor for no reason to waste further time.

Exactly my point. The law still stands. It's either a law or it isn't. And while it is, there is no excuse for not applying it. It's not as though it's open to interpretation, it's purely factual.

The really stupid bit is that actually enforcing the law would make the refs job easier.

I’ve never understood why crowds don’t remind the referee of the rules by consistently counting to six when he collects the ball. It would make the point at least.
