Reminding me of when WBA beat us 4-0 in the prem at the Hawthorns, when they just let us have the ball and they nailed us on the counter

I hope this keeper is in the nets when we play them.
Ash will put him there regardless :)

Weird game. Rovers have dominated possession and looked dangerous going forward. They’ve also been really wasteful and dreadful at the back.

What's everyone's thoughts on PNE getting in the playoffs? Thought they looked desperate against us, but they've somehow put a run together. If anything they've had a stranger season than Rovers.
Would love it if they took rovers spot. And then bottled it as per against Millwall or Luton.

That is Rovers in a nutshell. They try and play the pretty stuff and do to a degree but they aren't good enough when and where it matters. I'm thrilled.

What a smart appointment Warnock was
Genuinely thought they were gone. And he was daft for going there. What a manager. Has to be the best the championship has seen all things considered. And this being one of his best results of all.

Also this performance shows how really poor Leicester are as well, this Blackburn team went to Leicester and ripped them apart for 80 mins of their FA Cup game.

They’ve looked dangerous going forward until they hit the 18yrd line then look lost about what to do next

And as I’m saying that, they lose it on the edge of the area and get hit with a counter

They are so poor on set pieces, Barnes, THB & Beyer will have a field day on corners and free kicks at their place. Plus their dodgy insistent passing out from the back with Barnes, Brownhill, Tella, Zaroury, JBG, Benson etc pressing them we should rip them apart.

Got to love what Huddersfield are doing since Warnock took over, especially if you're a Huddersfield or Burnley supporter.

Blackburn goal difference is -4 at the moment after 40 games. That must be a first for a team so high in the table.

Rovers play first today and last on the next set of fixtures.

So everyone else plays twice before they entertain Hull on Saturday.

They follow that up with:-

Coventry (h)
PNE (a)
Burnley (h)
Luton (h)
Millwall (a)

Ouch!!

Huddersfield went up in 2017 with a -2 goal difference having finished fifth. Only one I can think of that runs Blackburn's close.

Enjoyable first half scoreline.

How many games did they lose that year? Nobody in the top half of the PL or EFL has lost as many as Rovers so far this year.

Its the "lost 16" stat (17 if todays result is the same as the current scoreline suggests) thats the amazing thing ... how they are still in the play off places defies logic

overs pass the ball well when not under pressure, but as soon as they hit the massed bank of defenders/midfielders in front of the Huddersfield goal, they just lack the quality to get through, over commit and have essentially been caught on the break three or four times

And its been 3 on 2, or 4 on 3 breaks as well, so Rovers essentially are really bad in transition

You can see why they don't come back into games as well, as they started well but have not been able to sustain it

Best bit is they’ve got Charlie Adam on half time punditry slagging the rovers defence off all while being a coach at Burnley

Said it for months (I do a podcast with a Rovers fan - lanclasico.com if anyone's interested) that they'll be lucky to finish top ten. With that squad, JDT has worked wonders to get them as high as they have been. It's a rag tag bunch mainly of kids who aren't good enough, proper lack of balls amongst them and it's starting to show more and more.

Yes to answer the first question in your mind I am sad :D but during half time I went back to 1980/81 season on wiki and made my way through the years and there are only 3 teams since that 80/81 season to make the top six on the "Second Division", "First Division" and now "Championship".

86/87 - Crystal Palace finished 6th on -2 GD
90/91 - Brighton finished 6th on -6 GD
16/17 - Huddersfield finished 5th on -2 GD

As a side note we finished 7th in 00/01 season on -4 GD.

Huddersfield record for that year was:

Won - 25
Drew - 6
Lost - 15

81 points.

Aside from the scoreline, Huddersfield have been abysmal. Thought they’d at least be hard to break down and a bit aggressive. Way too much space for Rovers.
