Looks bad at first glance. But his left foot is nowhere near the player. Look again at just his right foot, and it's just a good tackle. His right foot is pretty much in contact with the ground when he gets the ball, and the Blackburn player doesn't get any real force through him

But I stil reckon he gets a red with VAR. Wrongly in my view. Still think 1st tackle was a yellow tho

I was at the game and was incensed at the time as from where I was it looked like a great tackle, never mind a foul and a yellow card. All those around me took the same view judging by the eruption of expletives directed at the ref at the time. When I've watched it back it's clearly not a great challenge because although he definitely wins the ball he looks like he's off the ground, lunging somewhat and not really in control. Borderline red, but yet again absolutely delighted we didn't have to suffer the insufferable bloody VAR and I'm really, really not looking forward to getting reacquainted with it next season. (And you can see above for my views on Barney's handball too, because it was exactly the same!)

So you can’t go into a tackle with force now even if it means winning the ball and not leaving even a touch on the opponent…..that’s why referees make better decisions than VAR

No worse than the double assault on Benson in the second half

Referee was very inconsistent with his use of the yellow card. Didn’t think Brownhill’s was worthy of a yellow card, as mentioned above Dolan should have been booked for the foul on Taylor to stop him advancing out of defence because it was the 2nd time he had committed that offence in a short space of time. I think Cork was sent on with the instructions of livening the game up to get us going again. They seemed to have gained control of the midfield and we needed to get it back. I remember years ago when I ran a Saturday team at an okay level, we were playing in a cup final and it had gone flat. We sent an old head on and the first thing he did was to flatten one of their players, it got a bit heated and we started playing again and won easy. After the match when asked about the challenge he said the game needed livening up and it worked.

We have seen some random refereeing decisions this season, one that comes to mind was against Birmingham over Christmas. I thought Deeney was lucky to stay on and Hannibal already on a card , committed an awful foul that he could have been sent off for, ref gave play on. So with this in mind , no it was not a red card.

Maybe the fact that he got the ball cleanly and didn't touch the player made it look a bit less dangerous? I'm ot saying it wasn't a foul and a booking for dangerous play, but to say it was reckless, out of control, and endangered an opponent would be very harsh considering he never touched the man.

The Blackburn player who kicked Cork's face on his follow through when Cork was lying on the floor - now that could have been called endangering an opponent.
Thought smoldzic or whatever he's called was very lucky to stay on the pitch after fouling cork and then kicking him a couple of times in the ribs before kicking the ball in his face twice

Dont think he actually touches him! No complaints from the ******* in question. Bit exhuberant maybe. Not sure it was even a yellow. What about when Cork was kick deliberately in the stomach and around the head when he was on the ground later. Blackburn are classless idiots/thugs and whilst they were better than the last game they were poor. Bereton Dyas vastly overated, The gulf between us is massive and dont lots ever let them forget WE WON THE TITLE AT DEADWOOD. Not sure they ll even make the playoffs. UTC

Took the ball and didn't take the man.

This nonsence about two feet off the ground irks me. Having two feet off the ground is neccessary to run.

The lad that feliberately tripped Taylor right under the refs nose twice within two minutes was a greater offender in my eyes, or the deliberate handball.

They did that sort if thing a lot when we'd skipped past them but we do it too.

Ash's 'habdball' might have been given as a penalty like the one on Benson on any other day.

Overall not really any scope for either team to have too much to complain about which is rare given the abhorrent officiatibg we've witnessed this season.
