I find royal blood boring. Difficult spot for them though in between foo fighters and AM.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
Their first album slapped, loads of good tunes on it, but then I think they quickly got a taste of playing in big venues and festivals and quite liked it, chased after more of it, and in doing so took a bit of the edge off their music because that's the lower effort way of getting on a stadium tour. A bit of the cool factor usually disappears when the more heavy mainstream artists try to get themselves higher on the charts.colne-claret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 8:50 pmI find royal blood boring. Re: Glastonbury 2023
Agreed. Their USP of being just a bass and drums quickly became a massive limitation. Each song blends into the nextcolne-claret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 8:50 pmI find royal blood boring. Difficult spot for them though in between foo fighters and AM.
Re: Glastonbury 2023
They're kinda like Muse but without the charisma or as much creativity.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
Aye Muse are reyt, though they followed the same kind of trajectory I mentioned above: started off with some banging albums, then got massive, then turned into some wanky Queen copycats.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
I really hope AM turn up and put in a solid performance tonight. I’ve seen them live 3 times in last year and only really enjoyed one of those gigs. Too hit and miss these days however thought they were great in Sheffield earlier this month. Hope Alex is on form like he was last time they headlined.

I’m years out of touch with ‘new’ music but enjoyed that Young Fathers set after switching off Royal Blood, they were great fun.

Kelis is surely going to be the death of Bill Murray, she’s great mind.

It means it was groovy dude, the cat's pyjamas, the bees knees.
(Used particularly so when it goes hard)

Absolutely fantastic. Nobody really does what they do (and never really have!). Superb even after all these years.

More Richard Hammond..
Re: Glastonbury 2023
I don't follow Arctic Monkeys — when did they stop dressing like lads at college and start dressing like their dads out on a night out at the pub when their dads were at college?
Re: Glastonbury 2023
Over hyped. Never seen a more depressin headline act.

It’s been the Emperor’s new clothes with Arctic Monkeys for years, everyone trying to convince themselves they’re not a load of dull shite these days.
Get Kelis on instead, she’s ace.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
Not long after their first album to be honest. Turned into more of an Emo/rock look on third album, then moved onto Elvis style by 5th album and now this is where we are. I love Alex Turner though, he’s a socially awkward front man. He’s trying to communicate with the crowd a bit more tonight

Re: Glastonbury 2023
They're a great band, they're my favourite, sing the music for my generation and Turner's lyrics are stunning but the 70s pub singer crooner act is cringe beyond belief.
Re: Glastonbury 2023
I'd rather watch Dave Lee Travis play Macbeth
Re: Glastonbury 2023
Not gonna lie I'm getting slight David Brent vibes from AM. Can't quite put my singer on it. Can't be alone in that feeling, surely...

Crooner is the only word for it. As someone who loved the first two albums and slowly fell off after, this is like car crash tv.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
They aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. They’ve evolved as a band, I honestly don’t think he cares what people think about him these days. I’m not a lover of the last couple of albums but will always be my fave band. Personally, would love to see him go back and do another last shadow puppets project after this tour.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
Fred again was dull as it gets. Insipid MOR dance music with zero soul. Kelis is great right now, the Arctic Monkeys aren't doing anything new on the pyramid. Sparks were superb, Foo Fighters were worth a watch, Warpaint decent, most interesting thing I've seen so far was the comet is coming.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
I wish Arctic Monkeys would lean more into their last 2 albums live. They’re just rehashing the 2013 set
Re: Glastonbury 2023
Carly Rae Jepsen....now that's one act I wasn't expecting to enjoy but with a tight backing band and singers she pretty much set the stage on fire.

I do enjoy Glastonbury on the telly, never heard of Young Fathers or listened to Kelis in about 15 years and they’ll be on my Spotify all day tomorrow now, both absolutely brilliant tonight.
‘Names’ like Royal Blood and Arctic Monkeys were so boring.

Alex Turner was great when he was a normal lad from Sheffield, before he hit America and stardom.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
Monkeys seem very flat. Turner's voice sounds like it's struggling.
Re: Glastonbury 2023
Glad he hasn't ruined Florescent Adolescent too badly tonight, one of the best songs of the last twenty or so years. Same can be said for a lot of AM stuff.
