Thank goodness I didn't travel all the way to Belgium, then listen to bellends giving stick to one of our own players ! ....If he's wearing Claret & Blue we support them.....don't we ?

Really ****, even it was only 2 fans.
Sneer away about those criticising the boo boys if you like, but this is the exact opposite of the togetherness we’ll need next season.
If VK decides we need him, we need to back him.

Re: Weghorst Reception
It's not going to be a whole stand booing him. Maybe at the start people try it on, then read the room a bit and decide it's in their interest not to do it. A few muppets probably (almost certainly), but Wout ain't gonna hear that, and if he does, he ain't gonna register it as a unified voice, just a few people giving him $hit like all footballers deal with from time to time. And besides, everything moves as a response to something; if people boo, others will cheer him in response just to push back on the boo boys. It's just drunk lads in Europe doing drunk-lad-in-Europe nonsense. Folk will do it to get it out of their system, then they'll move on.up_the_clarets_1989 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 8:04 pmI think people saying it won’t happen on Turf will sadly be wrong. I was surrounded by people calling Muric a w***** till the end of the season so I can’t see Weghorst escaping it. Idiots.

I'm not trying to prove anything.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 7:58 pmWhat a strange comeback reply, just stating what was said in his interview which is all anyone can go off, what argument are you trying to have here? What are you trying to prove?
The tone of your post implied that you seemed to know something about the contract details, something of which I knew very little.
I'm not looking for an argument, my comments about Roberts seem to have upset you a bit, if so I am genuinely sorry.
I think your comment about what "the average fan" needs to know had me thinking you had a fair deal more knowledge of the club than certainly I have.
Once again, sorry for any offence.

Booing our own player will probably ensure that next year's pre-season games are held behind closed doors.

Re: Weghorst Reception
I get your point but by saying people are entitled to express themselves is not right when it is verbally abusing one of our players.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 8:13 pmSlightly going into different terrain here, I think the distinction is how you express yourself & the methods deployed.
If it continues into the football season there could be some serious in fighting amongst our support at away games, and no sensible supporter would want to see this or be in the middle of it.

Verbally abusing? From the sounds of it an handful of people have been booing him, it's still very raw with people unhappy with him everything will die down, you are jumping to rash worse casebook scenario conclusions with no evidential basis for the far fetched findings.Jamesy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 8:19 pmI get your point but by saying people are entitled to express themselves is not right when it is verbally abusing one of our players.

Nothing wrong at all, but it would appear that he's not done enough right in the eyes and minds of some fans.
I hope he gets a new club because it's just not going to work for him at Burnley.

and people are surprised why he got the reception he did?

Re: Weghorst Reception
Booing him? It was more than that. Anyway as you said that people were entitled to express their opinions, let’s hope you are right when you say it will all die down. I just hope I’m not in a seat anywhere near these pr!cks at away games if it hasn’t died down.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 8:32 pmVerbally abusing? Probably just a few drunk idiots. There are quite a number at away games I’ve been too. Can’t understand why someone would travel all that way to boo their own player. Not a fan of Weghorst myself but it’s pre season so give him a chance Dont know how some of these ‘fans’ find their way out of Burnley or how they can afford it. Some of them are the real dregs.

How is helping that anyone or anything?
I get that the level of thickness on this board can be off the scale about stuff that isn't football, but I assumed that people could work out that booing your own players doesn't result in successful teams
It really is that basic
If you are going to boo, then kindly hand your season ticket in to reception and go the 'Spoons where you belong

Just a little joke amongst the ludicrous overreaction. You can absolutely guarantee that multiple people on this thread have given this a hell of a lot more thought than Wout ever will.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 7:49 pmI don’t want to have to throw out my ‘true fan’ card but I’ve had a season ticket for 24 years and go to roughly a third of away games…I don’t need to have been in Belgium tonight to know that booing a Burnley player and calling him a ****** is very, very poor.
Strange take from a sensible poster.

They were there to support their team and players who want to play for Burnley. He hasn't quite proven that. No point in trying to blame drunk fans when the fact is that he has pretty much done nothing to win the fans over since our relegation.Boss Hogg wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 8:40 pmProbably just a few drunk idiots. Re: Weghorst Reception
Didn't mask his self-interested cynicism as well as 99% of other footballers; or rather, events transpired whereby his cynicism was revealed in spite of his best efforts to maintain the appearance of affection for the club that fans of all clubs yearn for - even if they don't truthfully expect of it - in their players- all this happened to a player who lacked the talent that would otherwise persuade fans that he really, truly is too good to be playing in the Championship. If goes something like this, to use a hypothetical: Mbappe, you don't want to play in the Championship? Yeh, sounds about right. Good luck to you in Madrid. Wout, you don't want to play in the Championship? Why? What've you done to earn that clemency?
I never really bothered that he left the way he did, I just don't see what he gives us, but I hope so much to be proven wrong.
