Yep. Nigeria have had the better of the play but England have easily had the best chances.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 10:26 amComms saying Nigeria have had the better of the chances. Aye, there's a reason shots that hit the woodwork aren't counted as a shot on target.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 10:26 amComms saying Nigeria have had the better of the chances. Re: England v Nigeria WWC
Great shot against the bar but the other was a crap header that bounced off the top of the bar.
England have been the better team.
England have been the better team.

Re: England v Nigeria WWC
I only turned on as the England player was sent off and the BBC comms have said Nigeria have been all over England.
Imagine my surprise when they put the stats up.
England 3x more passes and 4 shots on target compared to Nigerias 1.
What have Nigeria done so well?

That's utter rubbish from the BBC.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 10:33 amI only turned on as the England player was sent off and the BBC comms have said Nigeria have been all over England.

Re: England v Nigeria WWC
Wouldn’t say been all over England but have been pressing us hard, not giving them any time on the ballQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 10:33 amI only turned on as the England player was sent off and the BBC comms have said Nigeria have been all over England.

England have had the possession without really creating any chances of real note
Re: England v Nigeria WWC
They’ve been fast and very strong so England haven’t been able to play how they did against China. But for all that they haven’t created a lot.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 10:33 amI only turned on as the England player was sent off and the BBC comms have said Nigeria have been all over England.

Who is this negative commentator with Rachel Brown?
There's nothing much happened but England are hanging on. England showing signs of fatigue but no obvious signs until halftime when tge cameras zoom in on Nigeria players getting massages.
I really hope England win this just to ruin her day.

You do wonder whether it’s an attempt to look ‘balanced’ but the BBC team as a whole have been overly negative.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 10:53 amWho is this negative commentator with Rachel Brown?

Re: England v Nigeria WWC
Bloody hell, Nigeria have been the strongest side and seem the more likely to win it.
The statistics can be interpreted to create a different picture but anybody who has been watching the game would not be at all surprised to see Nigeria win.
That is not, as much as some would dearly love it to be so, the BBC's fault.

We haven't looked good going forward but you have to admire the defending since going down to 10.

For some reason womens football always reminds me of the stoning scene in Life of Brian.

The shrieks from the teams and the benches certainly do, kk.

Re: England v Nigeria WWC
Reminiscent of many a frustrating men’s performance at World Cups. Up against supposedly inferior opponents, but lacking the creativity and inspiration to overcome them. Nigeria looked stronger, fitter and like they wanted it more as the game went on, but they didn’t have the quality up front either.
Re: England v Nigeria WWC
Worry is that the Nigerian goalkeeper will keep producing saves.

I’ve had a shoot out theory for many years. First miss, wins. So happy that this one came up trumps.
