I think he probably realises like the rest of us that he is not a left back, or even a defender of any sort, as proved last year. His future lies further forwards in the Chelsea or any other team he chooses. He was probably of the opinion that if he signed for Burnley he would be put at LB or LWB which he clearly did not relish. I can see him departing Chelsea next season back to the continent, probably on another loan.

No hate from me at all about Maatsens vid.
He’s a Chelsea player, never been ours. We loaned him, he played a pivotal role in helping us go up and now wants to stay. He didn’t criticise us, just said up the blues.
Personally think it might have something to do with wanting to run down his contract and take a big signing on fee next summer. Who can blame him for wanting a share of £31m - good luck to him.
