Also Jay is the one getting our big chances, some will go in some wont but at least hes getting chances.
Not sure that’s a positive, he’s got like 3 PL goals in his last 90 Pl appearances, it’s costing us points playing a striker with a 1 in 25 average.

I think people suggesting he plays for defending set pieces and working hard says a lot

Whos the better alternative? Sure if we have someone who can guarantee us 10 goals a season whilst also being backup to foster then we should sign him. Might be quite difficult to find that player though.

And the goal comment isnt really relevant, how many of those were sub appearances and under a Dyche team that wasnt creating chances? Hes never been an orthhodox number 9 goalscorer type in his whole career, he was best from the left at his peak and thrn adapted back to a number 10 after he lost his pace post injury.
Hes a link player that offers a decent goal threat, hes had big chances in the last 4 or 5 games, created big chances, linked play, given us a physical presenceand helped us massively when defending set pieces.
It really isnt as simple as looking at goal stats but if it was, hed still be playing because id be willing to wager that nobody else in our squad has as many premier league goals

The Jay of 6 years ago would have been perfect for us. The Jay of today gives his all but the PL sets its own cruel standard,. There are not many 34 year old English strikers who still have that cutting edge and instant thought and decision making that still merits them being a PL striker. The best old example I have is Teddy Sheringham who played until 39, but I would describe him as a vey intelligent footballer who played to his strengths and fortunately for him, Fergie was on the same page.

We are sadly stuck with Jay-its a very sad state of affairs. However I would play him for the first half and get him to give his all in that period, then bring on Obefami or Larson to play that role second half. That is of course until Foster returns, if at all he does, sorry to sound cynical, but mental health issues are serious consequences.

We need to take note of how Leicester are using Vardy-he either starts and gets replaced fairly soon in the second half, or is an impact sub in the second half.If Leicester have 3 games in 6/7 days he may not feature at all in the middle game.Just check the stats to see how effective Vardy still is at the age of 36, and its not just Red Bull raising his game
