If you were selling a house, would you spend loads on redecorating it to your tastes, building an extension and installing a swimming pool, or would you maintain it and make it easier for potential buyers to do their own thing with it?
It's not a useful metaphor Claptrappers because ALK could not have afforded to buy the house without the cash that came with it.
And frankly no builders leave £47 million quid in the back garden to help potential buyers afford the sale price.

Were you bothered about the portraits last season?
Yes and he informed us they were going back only for Ball to tell us they weren’t because he said: “Alan doesn’t like them.”

I liked them.
Plus - Ball’s getting sacked in the morning.

I know you were, and understand the reasons why.
I was however replying to a poster who only seems to be raising the issue now, and not when we were top of the league

That's shocking, where are they now then? Should he not hand them back to the fans?
Maybe the council would agree to them lined up along walls as part of the new Turf 2 Town scheme

We think we have somewhere for them but they cannot be included on that scheme. Once everything is confirmed, I’ll be able to reveal where they are going but it was made clear they could not go anyone on the club footprint.

Surely with Alan’s stature ,even the weakest of weaklings would be able to hurl the pint sized preacher around 10 yards ? Thus making your point invalid . It’s a little known fact that during his uni days ,a frequently skint Alan would be fired from a cannon at weekends just to make ends meet .

So they can't go anywhere around the ground? And can't go under the Culvert leading to the ground?
Where the bloody hell they going to go then

Surely they could even make use of them down the walkway beside the cricket club on the wall there

So many places they’d look good.
Personally think that whole stretch from the culvert to the ground should be exuding Burnley history and tradition - no easier way than with these.
Mig fan of more murals too.

Been to a few away games where the surrounding areas are covered in club murals and artwork, adds to the experience

We asked about that, it's club land and we were told no.
I know this link is ten months old but as far as I am aware, this is still going to happen.

Not the memorial garden then but elsewhere?
Surely they must be something the fans can do about this, all the fans want them what does it matter what Alan Pace thinks of them he isn't a fan.
They've done a lot right improving the match day experience since they arrived but this is a massive error

It's being dealt with on behalf of those who own them - if you read the link, it confirms a site has been found.

Very much agree.
The whole of Yorkshire St should be covered in this stuff. Nothing says “welcome to Hell” (as Vinny wants) than murals, artwork like this, banners, etc.
It’s okay as it is but could be so much better.
Surprised the club seem to pay so little attention to improving it.

I'd guess it's maybe a matter of wanting consistent branding throughout. One of those things that some people seem to think is very important.

I think Pace gets some unnecessary stick on a few things but it's utterly disgraceful that 'the club' decided to ditch the pictures, they really did add to the Turf. Unfathomable decision. I'm glad a new home has been found for them

No idea, he told us they were going back but then we never heard from him again. But I'm guessing they didn't fit in with the branding as you say.

Not sure what you expect the club to do on land that they don’t own.

The Council were happy to rub shoulders with the players in the Town Hall as it was a good photo opportunity. Has anyone asked them about putting things related to the club up around town ? (I don't know, it's a question)

Who knows. But in my experience dealing with local authorities they will avoid taking on any additional responsibility or maintenance where possible. Artwork relating to a football club is at a high risk of vandalism and will need to be maintained, I can’t see the council setting aside funds for that. That’s not to say there’s things that can’t be done but I don’t really think it’s a big issue.

yep very true, I've dealt with plenty of councils and your point is 100% accurate (sadly).

Well I think there’s parts of it they do for a start.
And they managed to get a mural on a house they don’t own to support the MtB launch so I’m pretty sure it’s achievable if it’s something they wanted to do and set their mind to it.
I just think there’s a lot more the club could do uplift the whole Town2Turf corridor and also thread the fabric of the club through that area. I actually thought there would be a lot more they’d do on things like this & fan experience this season (flags debacle) and given results on the pitch I’d have thought Alan would want to be even more active pushing such initiatives to keep a sense of moving forward.

Yes, but my point is more that a private company can influence these things if they choose to.

I gotta agree with New Claret here. I would love to see the club work with the council to get a massive mural of Mr Pace adorning the side walls of the Culvert as you walk under towards the ground from town.
Maybe have Mr Pace on one wall and then either JJ Watts or Kompany on the other side with "Mission to Burnley" painted across the bridge
