It's very similar to our first promotions to the PL.
You mean when we had bet the ranch and would have gone into administration but for winning the play off final ?

Needs must - first promotion under Dyche we had little to spend. As we became more established he was given more money (we spent best part of £50m one summer when fees were a lot cheaper than they are now). The other thing we invested massively in was the wage bill.

I like the Luton story - they were very near to extinction and took pretty the biggest points deductions ever handed out by the authorities in the country. They have come up from the non league to the premier league during virtually the same period we had under Dyche when we spent most of it in the PL.

We are / were in a very different position to Luton financially going into this season. We had the best part of a decade in the PL and parachute payments too. If we had spent as little as Luton our fans would be going mad.

People are upset because of the way the money was spent rather than the decision to invest which is what many fans have wanted for years.

Luton probably knew they had to spend money on the ground, training facilities and that in the likelihood they go down that they have a better chance of going back up then they have ever had in their history - and if they do not establishing themselves as a championship team given where they have been is still a great result.

Our approach is not that different to many clubs that go up and down from the PL.
Luton’s approach is similar to a number of clubs going into the PL for the first time.

Ok - pretty much still the same point.
We had been out of the PL for a good while and there were long term things like the training ground Dyche wanted to invest in. They were brilliant long term decisions by Dyche and very selfless to knowing it would mean he would be limiting his own transfer spend and budgets. Makes his achievements all the more incredible.
