Crazy that Dyche went on to sign Ashley Young for Everton after being heavily linked with us for 2 seasons, just shows how a managers mind works when he wants a player.

Not so much linked and it was just the once. We'd all but signed him in the summer of 2021 but then Villa came calling and that's the only reason he didn't sign for us. I believe he'd had his medical and everything was agreed before that call from Villa.

If we don't make enough to cover transfer fee plus agent costs and wages, then the business model is not working.

You lose out on older players, you need to make profit on the younger ones.

You're not going to make a profit on every player. No club does that. Brighton signed some real stinkers for instance.

Also, he's been out on loan. There'll be some loan fees there plus the contribution to his wages.
