There are a lot of judgemental people on this messageboard. Why don't you wait for the full facts to come out before you condemn him. You are making assumptions based on a very limited view of things.

I need to watch the documentary, but by all accounts there is footage of him admitting much of what has been alleged?pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 2:46 pmThere are a lot of judgemental people on this messageboard. is admission of guilt not enough? what other facts are you expecting?pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 2:46 pmThere are a lot of judgemental people on this messageboard. Best to go off from what a legal professional said on this thread, rather than the pretend one.

As I understand it Captain Tom (Moore) did nothing wrong. It is his family that became trustees of the charity that was set up who may have abused matters. The sums handled by this charity ran into £millions.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 2:35 pmFirst Captain Tom and now this. Where have all the good guys gone?

Watch the documentary. He doesn't come out of it at all well. Made up figures, use of photos without permission, in fact against explicit wishes. Full of apologies and offers to pay back money including 75k to Hugh Grant and 200k from a campaign using false information and photos.

It’s looking increasingly likely that Captain Tom was just looking for an escape route.

He definitely payed for my mates shopping in Aldi, he said it was well random.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 12:59 pmHe may not have charged them, but nothing he did was for free. Things were just paid for by alternative means. Plenty of receipts he posted showing him buying food for people who had "nothing in their cupboards", which in reality were more likely his or members of his family doing their weekly shop. Receipts included champagne, brandy and make up amongst other items.
My mate has plenty of money and the guy just walked up and tapped his card, it was near Christmas as well so my mate was just gutted his trolley wasn't full of booze and only £70 of food

Pushpinperrymason does not understand the term "publicly apologise" GIE ... he just disappears untill the dust has settled.

It’s Alan Titchmarsh that I feel sorry for - he and his team did out his garden from what I remember too.

I’m in the same sector as this guy. I have been to jobs after him and seen the state he has left the houses in. Most recent one was a gentlemen in his 80’s. Told him his boiler was goosed and tried charging him 3.5k for a new one, he was then left without a working boiler for 3/4 week. I’ve been round and fixed his boiler by replacing the broken part, not the boiler!
Most people in the game know what he’s about.

A few years ago I was so proud of the local Burnley plumber who helped the vulnerable.
Today I am disgusted by the antics of the Scouse charlatan plumber.

Re: Burnley based Depher - BBC Investigation
I've no doubt that he did end up on the wrong side but far too many stories are leaking & circulating of some of the good stuff that he did for people. It's a shame he couldn't have carried that on. So when you factor in the good & the bad it's hard to be completely against him

It was fairly telling that the bloke who interviewed him for North West Tonight kept emphasising about all the good work he’d done for people from Burnley and beyond.
Almost like he regretted having to dig up the dirt on him.
