Re: Sell one Keep one
Pope and Tarks had to wait a season on the bench before becoming first team regulars. This allowed coaching staff to work with them so they knew the Burnley way under Dyche. As such when they came into the seam it was a seamless transition. They both went on to play for England.
Trafford should’nt have been thrown in at the deep end. It wasn’t right for his development IMO.
Muric is a decent keeper and the team play better when he is dictating things from the back. He will still drop a b*ll*ck now and again though. Most keepers do though when playing this system. Ederson and Alyson have both dropped a few.
I’ve supported the management with regard to Trafford all season but admit I was relieved when Muric was recalled. Adverse experience will make Trafford stronger but I fear it may not be at Burnley as it will be a big ask to win over many of the supporters.

I think some of the expectations for these transfer fees might need to be re thought since we only got £10 million for Pope

If we’re agreeing to those kind of clauses then we really are in trouble.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 10:23 amPerhaps it was contractural. No doubt that he wasn't ready, though.

Re: Sell one Keep one
Tough call. Don't really want to lose either for different reasons to be honest.
If you forced my hand I'd keep Trafford. Younger. Probably a higher ceiling. If he were to start next season and give a few decent performances you'd think all would be forgotten. The majority of Burnley fans know the fan base had only added fuel to the fire with Trafford's difficult season. I'd like to think we'll come out supporting him if he starts next season. Depends on whether he even wants to stick around though. Our impatience could have driven away a future England goalkeeper.

Is League One not physical and with teams going direct? I'm not sure about the idea of the Championship being the peak of physicality that some seem to suggest.Shaggy wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 8:16 pmTrafford has to go. He has to be one of if not the worst value signing we have ever made.
He will get roasted alive in the championship with its extra physicality and teams going more direct. He’s an absolute weakling.
The signs were there even in preseason what he was all about.
Hope we never see him in a Burnley shirt again

Re: Sell one Keep one
One of the stats people muric had the highest save % of any premier league keeper since 17-18 season, 79.8% for muric
Re: Sell one Keep one
I agree with Ian McL. The club has said in the accounts that we need to sell players to raise cash, so if they get good offers for both, they might well sell both.
Re: Sell one Keep one
We could get Nick Pope back in a swap with Newcastle.

If VK genuinely thought that Traff was "the future England #1" then he'd undoubtedly want to take him to Munich for a relatively small fee, right, as an understudy to Manuel Neuer?
... Maybe it was yet another one of Kompany's empty platitudes...
