Thought Lowton had the difficult task of following Trippier which was virtually impossible but I thought did really well for us. Bardsley was probably considered cover but was another I thought did really well. Either of those two at their best would have been a big improvement last season.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not slating them and your correct they had a tough act to follow
I would say they were 6-7 every week
Trippier usually 8-9
Roberts usually 5
Who was the best right back when we played in the sixties?

You initially posted "not been blessed with good full backs" which sounds like you thought everyone since has been poor. Maybe it was just poorly worded on your part.

Lowton was a very good signing and did so well for us. Given how long he was here and how many games he played - most of which were in the PL - he can't be judged in any other way.

If they were both at Burnley last season and in their prime they wouldn’t have got a game. Kompany wouldn’t have picked them.
He would have played one of his expensively scouted prospects or someone out of position whilst sending those two out on loan.
Thinking about it now, I am really glad Kompany has gone.

Roberts was a versatile fullback with a good engine and a bit of attitude I liked how he confronted Weghorst at the of the Wales v Holland match, but like Warksclaret posted the new manager will need to see all the fringe players so maybe we were too quick in letting JBG go!

Let's not get silly. He played Roberts most of the season in that position who wasn't his signing.

More than happy to have him back in. Now VK has gone, It's a clean slate for any player still under contract.

Never understood why people liked him confronting Weghorst, I’d have rather he confronted himself since he was sh1te that season too. Maybe he gets a free pass though because no one expects better of him.

I think fans might be divided on the incident with Weghorst. Personally I think that's more excusable than for some of the silly yellows, and that red he got this season. My close Leeds friend described Roberts as "playing on the edge and being feisty" which may be a good description. He just takes it too far at times. Something similar happened when O Shea ran the length of the pitch at Spurs when Assignon went down and stayed down, and O Shea tried to get him to stand up, when it appeared he was faking an injury. For me O Shea showed he cares about our club and time was running out to get a vital goal or two to save our potential PL status

I don't think his moustache helps his attitude.

The Assignon incident is a bit different as it was in the moment for the club. Roberts has decided weeks later to blame Weghorst when he didn’t play any better.
Mid-Championship level full back who we should be moving on from.
