The thing with Best, he was a naturally fit young man, wiry. He would have had no problem with today's game. All he would need would be a mentor to help keep him off the alcohol. From 17 to 24 years of age, he would compare favourably with anyone of any age, including today.

Not so many offspring of footballing fathers turn out to be as good as their forbears. I can think of Lampard, Grealish, doubtless there are others but not so many. Managing expectations must be a challenge. I just hope son of Ronaldinho and Casper break the rule
