No, although when I lived there I can remember some of the people who lived in those houses. I lived further up Grange Road. There was an air raid shelter in the field behind our house that you can also see in the film.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 7:57 pmThe ones on top of the grass banking behind the clubhouse?

I’ve mates who play and captain teams in this league. They are always coy about it they get paid or not. Surely now with the gates and funding teams get that players wouldn’t give up a full weekend to play cricket for free. I know at semi pro football teams first Hand that ways around this are ‘petrol money’

Trust me FCBurnley CPCC took a car of supporters who have relayed the news. There were also two people who used their free bus passes from the Culvert.

The 10k mentioned was, apparently, a very conservative estimate, according to my Dad & uncle Neil .

Re: Lancashire League Cricket
Very good win by Burnley We were 120/7 and finished at 180+/9 Then Tod were 107/2 and 140+all out Great effort to turn it around Think if we can win at Clitheroe tomorrow we should be ok.
Re: Lancashire League Cricket
Good win for the mighty Colne v Accrington, and a great finish. Four to win, 9 wickets down, next-to last over, and Matt Walker on 46 not out hit a six to clinch the win and his 50.

Re: Lancashire League Cricket
Could be a bad day for Burnley. Game abandoned at Clitheroe do only 5 points. Darwen batting at Littleboro 111/4 off 25. Assume it’s reduced overs game. Be a pity if the weather decides the title. House also abandoned

It’s the only match in the first division that hasn’t been abandoned. Darwen are now 146/6 off 29 overs.

Yes I’m guessing it will be reduced overs but if they get 12 points I think they will lead Burnley by 4 so either way we will need to win our last twoClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:49 pmIt’s the only match in the first division that hasn’t been abandoned. Darwen are now 146/6 off 29 overs.

Re: Lancashire League Cricket
Darwen got 154/7 off 30. ( 30 over game )
Re: Lancashire League Cricket
Not quite Tony. Church have beaten Rochdale so the Boro need something from this game. At 31/3 and Kieran Powell back in the shed I was optimistic. But Bowden and the opener put 70 odd on for the 4th wicket. 155 off 30 will take some getting.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 4:49 pmIt’s the only match in the first division that hasn’t been abandoned. Play Cricket unfortunately showing no play in the Church v Rochdale game. I suspect Darwen will probably win this one.

Play Cricket has been all over the place this weekend. And with Littleborough 15/2 after 6 overs I suspect you may be correct.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 5:43 pm

Darwen game abandoned. So Burnley still lead by 3 points with 2 games remaining. Lowerhouse trail in third place which is the highest they can finish.

I suspect that the weather may play a part in the T20 Finals day at Clitheroe.
Lowerhouse are up 1st against Crompton at 10:00am. Showers are forecast to continue overnight and tomorrow morning.
Home side, Clitheroe, then take on Ramsbottom.

Complete lottery tomorrow, which is why I've never been a big fan of T20. I'll still head over, hopefully there's a fair day's play

I agree. Any of the four sides could win tomorrow. Batters have to play positive shots / slog at every delivery.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 9:35 pmComplete lottery tomorrow, which is why I've never been a big fan of T20. I'll still head over, hopefully there's a fair day's play
Whilst entertaining, it's not quite cricket.
Getting up for a 10:00am start on a Bank Holiday Monday will prove difficult for a few, including myself !

T20 Finals day at Clitheroe abandoned.
Will be replayed next Saturday which means that a good few House supporters will miss the Crompton game as we'll be on the Turf.

Certainly a very strange decision with only the odd shower forecast. Perhaps yesterdays rain has affected the ground too much because otherwise it's baffling.

Strange decision as I've been over that way this morning and not raining at all. Maybe they've got half an eye on the supposed heatwave that's on the way, and the fact they'll probably have a bumper clubhouse watching the football who can't get tickets for the game..
Re: Lancashire League Cricket
Possibly. I'd have thought the other way, certainly we can't go now cos of the match.

This is Clitheroe we are talking about. Very likely the reason. Most expensive clubhouse in the league too.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 9:32 amStrange decision as I've been over that way this morning and not raining at all. I was up at bloody 7:00am this morning. Not seen that time of day for ages. I'd even had a wash and put clean clothes on for the occasion.

I'm in clitheroe, can't comment on the pitch but a real shame.
It will likely be dead next Saturday now, could be interesting if Lowerhouse made the final and folk headed over after the Burnley/******* game to watch
