It's 2024 not 2009. We are a different club now and it's a different competition as well. If we get to the quarter final great but I wouldnt be bothered if we went out

It'll be easier on Saturday. On Wednesday he might pick the team only to find someone has been sold in warmup; on Saturday he can call everyone in on Saturday morning and pick a team from whoever is left, knowing that they won't be sold before the game.

Worrall and Esteve are presumably the pairing we'll be relying on going forward so this is a great opportunity for them to play together. The midfield clearly didn't function very well at Sunderland so we need the same pairing to work together to try and improve on that. Houtondji is clearly more in need of game time than Koleosho. Rest Jay Rod for Saturday and give Amdouni some minutes.

I always get the feeling with these cup games that if you make too many changes you end up with a really disjointed performance and invariably lose. Losing wouldn't be the end of the world but we need to get something out of the game even if it's just improved understanding between certain players and an opportunity for the coaching staff to see how certain combinations can work.
