Brownhill is a bit ****.
His passing is so negative.

If he didn't score goals he wouldn't be anywhere near the team.

The potential is there to see for us, encouragingly, but it really needs to gel soon though. We had the luxury of a 2 horse race two seasons ago, plainly won't be the case this time.

A decent last 10 has seen us get on top.

I just can't see where the goals are coming from.

I'm not trying to pile on Foster but this system isn't his forte and I feel he is wasted. Desperate for a presence in the middle.

I can’t help but feel we need a big lad up front. Someone to bully defenders and mix it up a bit.

Despite being on top. Brady could have scored there. Then Mccan should have scored, too.

We could be 3 down.

How many clear chances have we created? Maybe 1.

You're absoltely right.

Someone who actually holds possession somwhere up front. Someone to aim at.

This system absolutely needs one.

I thought Browny was doing well both going forward and at the back. Offered a lot more than Foster has.

Again, Foster is not a lone striker. Hannibal or Brownhill has to make way for Flemming. Especially at home against lesser sides.

I can't stand listening to Hinchcliff.

Criticises Humphrey for going to ground....as the defender grabs a couple of handsful of his shirt.

Foster was brilliant there, on the half-way line chesting, shielding and laying it off.

Didn't then bust a gut to get in the box.

Foster has been constantly coming deep with Brownhill running on beyond him again, but then seems to take an age to get himself into the box.

Could, probably should, be going in a couple down here.
They've looked much more likely to score than us.
Hoping for a better 2nd half.

That’s the whole problem with Foster.. his intelligence or in game IQ Is so poor that he’s largely anonymous. The most important trait for any striker is knowing where to be at specific points of the game.

Esteve basically covering for the rest of the back four, and Foster offering virtually nothing.
Hannibal off for Flemming, and Jay on for Foster. Also don't like Egan-Riley at CB, with Humphreys at RB.

A very tough watch. No intensity, pressing and lacking the basics most of the time, with simple 5 and 10 yard passes going astray.

I was thinking what a good half E-R had had but was waiting for his mistake.

There is was, to finish the half, sloppily gave them a chance.

In truth, we're lucky to be level. They've created 3 or 4 reasonable chances and we've created very little.

Our players are very isolated when they get the ball. There's a huge gap between Foster and the midfield in the centre of the pitch, I realise we are looking to go wide but they are forcing us down cul de sacs there.

We need someone in that space to at least create options. Foster is being asked to play a role he's not suited for.

We've been poor so far

The midfield 3 is a big issue imo, it simply doesn't work with that personnel and badly effects how we attack

First half observations.
What's happened to Cullen? His instinct is to go sideways or backwards every time he gets the ball, even when we're on the front foot.

Preston have 4-5 men in the box when they get it out wide. We're lucky if Foster is in there.

Does Koleosho look up? Head down and runs straight into three defenders just trying to plow through them.

We really need a proper number 10 on the pitch.

Esteve probably the only player to come out of that half with any credit.

Foster will never be a lone striker, he drops deep and needs a foil to play alongside him.
He does the hard work, holding up the ball, layoffs etc but then needs someone to give him time to get in the box.
I'd love to see Foster and Flemming together but who take take off?
Personally think Brownhill and Hannibal have been OK today. Hannibal probably slightly more attacking than Brownhill but one of them may have to make way.
Koleosho has been ok but, as usual, final ball has been shocking.
Still lots of positives, still a work in progress, but we need to start creating chances and more importantly finishing those chances. We won't with this current system
