Parker absolutely had to change things. I was just a bit surprised with the options he took.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:18 amI can’t get behind the subs costing us the game, until the subs we were second best in the second half and Boro should have been 3-1 up. 3 then had 2 massive chances to play Anthony and brownhill in and didn’t both times, I think people are clutching for something to moan about Parker because we didn’t win

I meant cost is the Win lol. My hands and brain were defrosting . Not a bad point like I said more positives than negatives but the subs made no impact that’s all.

Coming from behind in those conditions is very much a point won unless you are looking for something negativeblatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 10:24 pm
Another 2 points dropped in my eyes but we keep moving forward .

Reality doesn't matter to those who perpetually search for negativity, even after an entertaining game that was played in utterly horrendous conditions against a decent team.

As I’ve said more positives than negatives but the use of Hannibal out wide was the baffling one. Slowed down our attacking threat.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:37 amComing from behind in those conditions is very much a point won unless you are looking for something negative

Re: Subs cost us that game
I think numerous things that we all knew were highlighted last night as we played the best team I have seen at home this season.
1. We only have two starting wingers
2. Saramento prefers to play as a number 10
3. Flemming is always on the shoulder of the last defender looking for a ball over the top, but never receives it.
4. Jay is not the striker he used to be but plays a role ala harry kane in picking up the ball deep.
5. Kolesho always wants to beat one more man and normally fails
6. We have too many similar midfielders laurent, cullen, brownhill and hannibal
7. No-one has nailed the left back position.
8. Trafford has improved and is a steady keeper.
9. Our free kicks and corners are terrible (we average 7 corners a match at home)

Re: Subs cost us that game
I think its time Koleosho was rested and made the "impact sub", particularly now we have Redmond approaching fitness. Koleosho runs his socks off and comes back defensively on many occasions, however when deep he thinks he can dribble his way into an attacking position and often loses or gives away the ball. Foster is hopefully not far away allowing Sarmiento to go wide with Anthony, and possibly even allowing Fleming to be the genuine No 10, particularly against lower opposition
Anthony seems to get some stick on here but he is often the player to generate something with his forays and crosses, and yesterday I thought his corner delivery was the best since the McNeil/Westwood era

For me, it was definitely a point won.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:37 amComing from behind in those conditions is very much a point won unless you are looking for something negative
Found it quite alarming how many decent chances they created in the second half.
You can argue all day about the subs but realistically, we have to be happy that our home record is still intact. Boro will be one of the better teams we play.
Re: Subs cost us that game
Boro were by far the best team we have faced at home so far this season. A point is fine. All the substitutions seemed to make sense at the time, but it can't be easy coming into a game like that, in those conditions, and trying to immediately make an impact.
I agree, definitely a point gained rather than two lost.

Honestly .. do you think we are going to win or rather should win every game …
Re: Subs cost us that game
Said it before and I'll say it again.
I'm sure if it's arrogance, entitlement or unrealistic expectations or all 3.
Which club wins every game? We don't win and moaning starts.

It's hard to understand for me, but it's now seen as a bad thing by lots of posters on here if you think Burnley are good and should do well.

Middlesbrough had the advantage of the weather last night. First half when they were kicking against the wind it was nowhere near as blustery as it was when we were kicking against the wind.

Exactly this. It’s like you can’t have an opinion without super fans putting you down. I’m happy with a point in the end like I’ve said but I do feel the Hannibal sub and position maybe cost us the 3 points. You’d think I’ve had said something way out line with some of the repliesdaveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 12:27 pmIt's hard to understand for me, but it's now seen as a bad thing by lots of posters on here if you think Burnley are good and should do well.

Conversely, there have been innumerable posts (perhaps one or more were your own?) on previous match reviews where the players have been getting berated for trying to put in an extra pass, rather than accepting responsibility and taking the shot; we can't have it both ways.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 10:28 pmThe poor final balls from several players cost us the game, opting to shoot rather than pass to a teammate in a better position.

Re: Subs cost us that game
Scott Parker has worked miracles in his time at Burnley given the lack of any real attacking options from the bench. Yesterday Middlesbrough were able to bring on Latte Lath who had scored 6 goals in his last 8 games whilst Burnley brought on Flemming who probably won’t score 6 goals all season. Today Leeds freshened up their attack from the bench bringing on Gnonto and Mateo Joseph. Some smart recruitment needed in January if we are to maintain a promotion push.
