Whilst the football is very dull I think there is some pretty harsh criticism of the manager on here. We are 3rd as it stands with a hell of a good defence. Think some might need a reality check.

Not listened to the interview, but with reference to crossing and in defence of Parker, crossing has been seen for sometime as giving the ball away to the opposition. It doesn't mean you never cross, there are a few places on the pitch where they can be very dangerous with the right kind of delivery. Cut backs are seen as much more profitable if you can get them right. The problem we have is that we aren't opening teams up in other ways. Plus our slow build up play means that when we do cross the opposition is usually set. We don't go for early crosses where some good attacking movement causes issues.

The risk & reward argument is killing football, safe football is boring as hell. Its half the reason i struggle watching England and teams like City.ChorltonCharlie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 9:38 amNot listened to the interview, but with reference to crossing and in defence of Parker, crossing has been seen for sometime as giving the ball away to the opposition. Its very clear that some people on this board have an agenda against our manager.
One or two in particular are harping on about it and its damaging morale…. They need to think about what they are trying to achieve.
Even the great Pep is having a wobble. It happens in football.

Re: Parker - BBC interview.
The thing for me is he’s simply not learning, Stevie Wonder could tell you Flemming isn’t a 9 and we’d improved with Rodriguez in that position, so what does Parker do….
Just over complicating things trying to be cute and clever, start with the basics and playing players where they’re most comfortable.
I think most people on this forum could have told you before a ball was kicked that playing the 3 Josh’s in midfield at home to Derby and playing with out a striker was a negative set up. Yet the manager who works with them everyday STILL does not see it?
I hate stubbornness of managers, remind me of Dyche forcing in Mee at left back. Just stop and use your eyes!

But not the stubbornness of Kompany who instructed the team to play out from the back all season watch us concede stupid goals and tell them to do it again ?

Re: Parker - BBC interview.
In Parker’s defence here, the crowd were shocking on Tuesday. The anxiety could only be sensed by the lack of atmosphere and the moans were louder than any chant on the night. Yes the football wasn’t great but a lot of the lads we have are youngsters. Anthony looked like he’d gone into his shell the same as koleosho has been. If only parker would just allow them to play to their strengths and beat a man and attack the byline then the crowd would automatically be up for it. All this cutting back inside and passing backwards is tedious to watch. Works both ways I guess.

Re: Parker - BBC interview.
Putting hopeful crosses into the box time after time is not about risk and reward. There's a very low chance you score from the average cross, so you try and do something else. We're not good enough at the something else.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 9:48 amThe risk & reward argument is killing football, safe football is boring as hell. So we're not good enough in attack in general? what a shock!

Re: Parker - BBC interview.
I understand that, but for me personally its the same with playing around with the ball at the back to keep possession and stretch play, it just gets boring to watch (for most of us anyway)ChorltonCharlie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 2:41 pmPutting hopeful crosses into the box time after time is not about risk and reward. Re: Parker - BBC interview.
We did the exact same under VK, the only difference being we had better difference-makers in the final third and a player in Ian Maatsen who was far, far too good to be playing in the Championship, as evidenced by him playing in a UCL final the following season.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 11:37 amI understand that, but for me personally its the same with playing around with the ball at the back to keep possession and stretch play, it just gets boring to watch (for most of us anyway)
Drop Tella and Maatsen into this team and we'd be top of the Championship without a problem.

Re: Parker - BBC interview.
What if he was advised from his backroom team that Jay needs limited minutes due to heavy scheduling and his age / other workload?KRBFC wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 10:46 amThe thing for me is he’s simply not learning, Stevie Wonder could tell you Flemming isn’t a 9 and we’d improved with Rodriguez in that position, so what does Parker do….

We just don't have the players in the final third.
