Foster a 4? Wow that’s low…He has looked lively his last 2 limited appearances. He ran down everything

From TV.

Trafford - 8 - No super saves to make but lots of punching and bar a couple did well under pressure. People complain about him slowing the game down but I guess they are his instructions and it was the order of the day today.

Roberts - 7 - Stuck at it and overall did well defensively and less often going forward. A bit too much play acting going on.

Egan-Riley - 8 - Grew into the game and had to deal mostly with an aerial assault and coped well. Long passing not up to standard.

Esteve - 8 - Also coped well with aerial side of the match and some good work on the ground too.

Humphreys - 8 - MoM - Defensively good and of course put in the winning cross.

Cullen - 6 - Difficult for him. Targeted by Cantwell, decided he needed revenge and I suspect that ultimately led to his yellow card.

Brownhill - 7 - Worked hard, little goal scoring opportunities but part of our rare better interplay which never led anywhere.

Laurent - 6 - Put in a shift defensively but not so great going forward.

Anthony - 6 - Our one obvious threat of crosses and shots but didn’t get much of a look in.

Flemming - 7 - One for the great finish but that was the only time he looked a threat. A thankless task though.

Sarmiento - 6 - Lucky not to be badly injured after the early foul by Baker (which should have seen a yellow if not a red as it was so late) but didn’t achieve a great deal.

Subs.

Good subs but both on too late to mark.

Foster - Worked hard and looked lively. Won a forward header (as I think did Flemming!).

Egan - Helped see them off.

What a horrible match to watch, pleasing ‘only’ because we won, which of course was the object of the exercise.

Blackburn came out aggressively starting with the early foul by Baker on Sarmiento, and Cantwell deciding to start things with Cullen. Unfortunately Cullen, and Laurent and later Roberts who tried to get him booked, all decided to retaliate. Why do these experienced players fall for this nonsense rather then just get on with the game? Other then that I thought they had a good plan but we were defensively to good for them and just had that one real scoring opportunity and took it.

The goal was brilliant from Flemming - a good cross from Humphreys but we’ve seen good crosses before and they are generally wasted because we have no-one to finish them off. As soon as the ball was hit Flemming was fighting his way forward to get to it and then actually put it in the net.

Other then that there was a good cross from Anthony - nobody on the end of it of course - and some nice interplay, mostly on the right, that achieved nothing.

I was impressed with Blackburns Tronstad.

A good win though and on we march!
Sorry but Cj Egan Riley’s passing first half was an absolute joy to behold. Not sure what game you were watching sir

Trafford - 7. Nowt to save. Dealt with crosses well. Good distribution

Roberts - 8. Not much going forward but scrapped well and wound their fans up no end and won some good free kicks

Egan Riley -10 . Faultless. Passing range is phenomenal, he’s strong, heads, tackles, reads the game so well. What a player

Esteve - 9 not far behind CJ. Becoming more and more of a proper centre half. This season will do him no end of good and he will become a top champions league player in the next 5 years

Humphries - 9 solid as Rock defensively and our main out ball second half with another brilliant delivery for the goal

Anthony -7 worked hard but not much joy going forward or Beating his man

Cullen 8- not his type of game today but he ratted very well and got in their faces

Brownhill- 7 quiet game for him but no space to run to into at all

Sarmiento -7 just couldn’t get going but put in a shift and tried hard

Laurent - 6 thought he’d get sent off at one point, didn’t really get going today and looked a little bit clumsy.

Flemming -8. What an header

Subs- can’t really mark as they didn’t do much but worked hard

Parker-8 matched them all over with ease and pushed for the goal after half time . Great win . We are superior

Special mention for Foster who I thought did well when he came on and to both Jay Rod & Bashley for their after game performances.

My marks may seem high to some but we’ve just won again at Ewood and that will always be worth high marks to me.

I’ve looked at ratings after I’ve put that and think I must have watched a different game. 4 probably harsh but felt like there was times where he was just jogging when closing down.

Probably over inflated a few scores today because it was against 'them', but in reality it was a textbook performance against a very limited side.

We defended brilliantly (again) and just needed one moment of quality to win the game (which we did, again).

But it feels so much more than that. Hence the scores!

When was the last time we won 5 games on the spin at ANY away ground? I've certainly grown to love Ewood Park

Not suggesting we do but we could play Egan Riley in just about any central position from back to front excepting GK but he might be good at that !

Subs:

Great win, controlled performance. Egan Riley’s passing from centre half the best I’ve seen in my time watching the club, as good as some of those defensive passers in the premier league.

Lucky for Laurent to stay on, but also incredible the penalty on Flemming wasn’t given.

Trafford- 8. Some big punches in a crowded area. His most comfortable performance doing this.

Roberts- 7. Literally who you want to try and “con” a few fouls. Reliable as usual
CJ- 10. Man of the match. Just does not look fazed by anything. Will be worth a lot of money so need to tie him down to a deal asap
Esteve- 9. Excellent again
Humphreys- 8. Battled well and a great ball in for the goal. His shirt to lose

Cullen- 7. Stood up to their tactics of thuggery and gave some back which is great
Laurent- 7. Energetic as ever. Got about and defended well towards the end
Brownhill- 7. Got about and tried to get us going when he could

Anthony- 7. Want to see him square his full back up more
Sarmiento- 7. Got stuck in and was lively

Flemming- 8. Fed on scraps but what a great header

Foster- 6. Didn’t have much to do but chased and chased the ball when he was on
Egan- 7. Just comes on the get us over the line but does it so well. Couple of big headers

Parker- 10. Subs were at the right time and picked the right team from the start. 50 points so at least we’re safe now 😂

Egan-Riley - 10 and MoM
Esteve - 9
Humphreys - 9
Brownhill - 8
Cullen - 9
Laurent - 8
Anthony - 8
Sarmiento - 7
Flemming - 9

People criticising Egan-Riley's distribution today were watching a different game to me - his passing range is second to none at this football club and he demonstrated that throughout the match.

Mind you, there was some fella stood behind me who was screaming all sorts at Anthony, calling him soft throughout and being pretty abusive. I really do question some people's motives at times, it's bizarre - I genuinely don't think one of their fans would have been any more negative about him!

From tv
Trafford 7 no real saves to make but did what he had to do
Roberts 8 impossible to give any of the back four less than 8
ER 9 mom magnificent
Esteve 9 he does everything at his pace, always in the right place
Humphreys 8 a few dodgy moments later on but his cross for Flemming was fabulous
Cullen 7 fought hard in the midfield battle
Laurent 6 sloppy at times
Brownhill 7 nonstop performance
Anthony 6 not involved in the fight, though he did work hard
Sarmiento 6 too lightweight for this kind of fight
Flemming 8 plus one for goal, he worked tirelessly with skill

Incredibly massive three points against a niggley B&stards team. Our defence was immense, our midfield was fine and battled, our forward three didn’t do enough to hurt them too much. We need more strength and power upfront to help Flemming play his natural game. The referee was unbelievably bad for both teams, though we suffered much more than them, how they didn’t have at least three more yellow cards I’ll never know. Well done to Parker for preparing the team well for such a difficult game.

Trafford 7 Solid

Roberts 7 Solid. Falls over a bit too much.
Egan Riley 9 The best player on the pitch.
Esteve 8 very assured performance
Humphreys 8 great cross and very good defensively

Cullen 8 excellent positionally.
Laurent 6 a good shift but very wasteful in possession.
Brownhill 7 solid

Sarmiento 6 was caught in possession too often
Fleming 8 was fouled all day, key moment with goal
Anthony 6 not his day. Wish he had more desire as there’s a very good player in there.

A tight game that we controlled for large parts. Once again we didn’t look like conceding, which is quite remarkable.

Our defence and the protection offered by the whole team won that. Cullen and Brownhill as good a pair as any in this league. We are so much better at defending crosses than the Kompany team two years ago

Trafford 8 - dealt with crosses through bodies quite well
Roberts 7 - used all his experience today
Egan-Riley 10 - outstanding
Esteve 10* - flawless
Humphreys 8 - great assist and competed well in duels
Cullen 7 - battled away but found it hard to get us playing
Laurent 6 - physical presence, wanted more on the ball tho
Anthony 7 - our main threat I felt
Brownhill 6 - good stuff off the ball but couldn’t influence on
Sarmiento 6 - left wanting more from him again
Flemming 8* - plus 1 for goal and held the ball up well

Today was all about the result, for obvious reasons, and given both teams have tight defences, and given the pitch was utter crap, it was never going to be a fluent performance or exciting game. Another clean sheet and this defensive record is becoming surreal now. We still don’t get the ball in the box as much as I’d like (see the goal) and hopefully now Parker finally has some time on the training pitch with them, after a chaotic month, we can see a bit more chance creation moving forward.
Was going to do my player ratings, but you nailed it.

Awful game of football that really just turned into one big scrap. How refreshing that after the debacle of last season, we now have a squad of players wanting to roll up their sleeves and take pride in doing the ugly stuff. Very Dyche-esque performance.

From Now TV

Trafford- 8 In control, only that header had me worried that went wide

Roberts- 7 Loving him this season
CJ- 10. Man of the match. Just getting better and them passes down the wing inch perfect
Esteve- 9. Solid as a rock
Humphreys- 8. Another getting better each game, what a cross for the goal

Cullen- 7 Received it so gave it and some :D their player should have had a yellow for taking his shirt off
Laurent- 7 all over, but got away with the foul whilst on the yellow but would have been harsh.
Brownhill- 7. Really tried

Anthony- 7. Always tries and tries again
Sarmiento- 7. More lively today
Flemming- 8. what a great header for the goal and should have had a pen. In weeks he's gone for zero to hero, long may it continue, couldn't be happier

Foster- 6. Extra energy, chased and chased the ball when he was on
Egan- 7. Always worry when we bring another Centre Back on, but it works

Trafford 8 : Withstood the targeting on corners. I must admit I’d like to see him punch with both hands if at all possible.
Roberts 9 : Part of the best defence in the league and our best since the days of Ben Mee and Tarky.
CJER 9 : Was CJER. The rock.
Estève 9 : Was Estève. Le roc.
Humphreys 9 : In addition to improving rapidly as a full-back defensively, he’s now venturing forward and putting in perfect crosses. Two assists in three games (three starts).
Cullen 8 : It was a battle in midfield or rather very niggly if not a true war. Could have been sent off in the first half but instead concentrated on his game and doing what he does best.

Laurent 8 : Not hugely creative but this game was about not yielding and he more than played his role in protecting the defence.
Brownhill 8 : Not as involved offensively as ususal but this wasn’t a ‘usual’ match.
Anthony 8 : Had the one shot but above all he was there to defend our lead.
Sarmiento 8 : Not a match for him but did his part in the Battle of Ewood.
Flemming 9 : You get a 9 if you score the decisive goal at EP. Very difficult game for a lone forward but showed what he can do when given the service.

Subs :
Foster 8 : Did what he was asked to.
Egan : Provides a reassuring presence at the death.

Scott Parker : He knew this was a game not to lose. He’s built a defence which has moved from ‘makeshift’ to the best in the division. You can see all the players embrace the ‘no pasaran’ mindset. They all defend. To a man.
