We’ve all seen plenty of cup ‘performances’ over the years where numerous changes are made to the starting XI and they actually play with no intensity and like they have never seen each other before!
The whole starting XI was changed yesterday which included a few full debuts and we played pretty well - particularly in the first 20 mins.
So credit to the players and their attitude for that.

Apologies there.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 12:00 pmNo ratings from me because I didn't see enough of the game to do them.
But some observations
The link i gave you was the wrong one.
It was the same, earlier one that had gone into a loop. Forgot I'd swapped tablets earlier.

Glad someone has mentioned the 2 howlers from the goalkeeper, he got away with the first one, but did similar at WolvesClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 12:00 pmNo ratings from me because I didn't see enough of the game to do them.

I would struggle to give Hladký much over 4. There were two howlers shown even on the short BBCi highlights. Trafford would have been getting 3s for any one of them.
Sonne looked OK
The central defenders did well and Worrall would have been my man of the match.
Bauress/McDermott both did ever so well
Jay/Foster played well
Barnes looked a mile off but his time on the pitch will have done him some good
Trésor - an unexpected surprise
Not impressed, but only two games

Re: Reading v Burnley - Player Ratings
I've just watched this on Clarets+ but I won't post scores, just a few comments.
Pires. Didn't think he had any problems defensively and attacked well with Foster.
Rodriguez. Still working right at the end including getting into a good attacking position. I bet he's feeling it today though!
Barnes. Good performance from him. Put in the yards, got in good positions and good runs into spaces but a thankless task in this Burnley team. No fouls for or against, which is good.
Flemming. Looked very sharp.
Foster. A real goal threat.
Tresor. There's something there for sure. He has an eye for good passes, good attacking positions and crosses well. The only player in a Burnley shirt that did not want to defend - even Foster near the end was tracking back.
Hladky. I don't know what the people who complain about Trafford taking a long time to pass out will make of Hladky's efforts!
Koleosho. I didn't see any of the usual running down blind alleys. He was pretty positive, had at least three (weak) shots and generally looked a threat. Gave away an unnecessary foul that led to their goal though, the sort of foul he often gives away. He needs to learn about this.
Overall a day that ticks some good boxes. Progress to the fourth round and good runouts for a number of players.

Re: Reading v Burnley - Player Ratings
… just on Koleosho. I thought he was really good tbh. Fast, aggressive and often chose a simple pass. If he can add more quality to his finishing and final ball happy days. I do get that more often than not he’s frustrating, but we need to be patient.
