Re: Best unbeaten runs
I tried to see how many other clubs in the Championship had gone 25 league games undefeated in their history (any division). Suprisingly, club records like that are harder to find than you’d think. However, I found at least 10 clubs for whom 25 would be a new club record. In fact we’ve equalled or bettered Sheffield United’s club record of 22 three times in the last decade.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 12:10 am1920/21 - 30 games
2024/25 - 24 games
2015/16 - 23 games
2022/23 - 22 games
1981/82 - 20 games
When I saw the 23 nine years ago I never thought I'd see us get close to that again - then we got within one two seasons ago and now beaten it. All the five above are remarkable runs.
We might be disappointed tonight not to have won but we shouldn't be given the run we are on.

It's astonishing that we've had these three fantastic runs in the last decade.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:13 amI tried to see how many other clubs in the Championship had gone 25 league games undefeated in their history (any division). Is it just the one player involved in all 3 squads?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 4:28 pmIt's astonishing that we've had these three fantastic runs in the last decade.

Ashley Barnes, I believe, is the only survivor from that Sean Dyche season

Re: Best unbeaten runs
It's clearly down to Ashley Barnes.
We need to find a way of preserving his life force and keeping it inside the Turf.

Re: Best unbeaten runs
Apart from having little involvement this time, Barnes hardly featured in the 23 games in 2015/16. Didn't play at all until April and then played in all of the last eight games although he only started one of them.

I find it even more astonishing that we have the points total we have at this stage, and yet we're still only third!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 4:28 pmIt's astonishing that we've had these three fantastic runs in the last decade.

I presume it's the only period of time we have had a financial advantage over our competitors?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 4:28 pmIt's astonishing that we've had these three fantastic runs in the last decade.
