In May 2021, Benkenstein joined Lancashire as batting coach on a short-term contract.
In November 2021 he was named head coach of Gloucestershire on a three-year contract. In 2022, they finished bottom of league one and were relegated and in 2023 they finished bottom of league two!
He was appointed head coach of Lancashire in 2023.
In 2024 we were relegated to league two and in 2025 we're currently bottom of league two.
One thing's for sure Benkenstein is consistent in mediocrity.
Unfortunately, with these clown in charge of Lancs CCC things will not get any better until they realise success on the pitch in County Championship and reconnecting with the fans is far more important than the Manchester Originals or the corporate/property and events management they prefer to chase
