Until someone comes up with a solution, social media will remain a cesspit that allows idiots to say pretty much anything they want with anonymity. It’s not a nice place.

Katie Boulter does not have to go anywhere near the “official Katie Boulter” accounts - someone could be managing those commitments for her. If she wants some engagement with fans, that can be done in a moderated forum. Marcus Rashford made the birthday honours list through social media activity without ever typing a tweet himself.

Meanwhile she could enjoy the wonders of social media using an account that hides her identity - which pretty much everyone posting on here does so it’s not an unreasonable ask.

It would be great if we lived in a world where this wasn’t necessary, but we don’t and whilst she’s Britain’s number 1 tennis star that unfortunately means she’ll need to compromise to avoid the stuff she’s currently seeing.

Sproggy I know what you mean, however the media platforms she has to use are the ones the tennis federation , the organisations that run events like Wimbledon and then the sponsorship's want these platforms used , so for her to do her job and get the most from it (they all have to use them)

And be honest hiding your name is not going to get you paid.
And we do live in a world where these cretins need callling out not half baked solutions of how to avoid these trolls.
