Over harsh, when you hear the players and their comments about him, as skipper.
Skipper Josh Brownhill

Perhaps he has 'an understanding' with a club and there is a technical reason for the delay.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 4:10 pmWithout question one of the most bizarre transfer/contract sagas I can remember. He is never even linked with anyone anymore despite just scoring 18 goals in a record breaking promotion winning team and being in the prime of his career on a free transfer.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
Well, they can say whatever they like, they worked with him on a daily basis so theirs is the only opinion that matters really, but my take on it is this:
He has allowed his contract to run down, when there has probably been more than one on the table. (That’s just an assumption based on my belief that we wanted him to stay)
He was the captain - captains don’t speak about the club and the manager like he has and then drop them like he has.
Captains don’t simply not turn up for training even if they are out of contract. If the contract was still being considered/discussed, then he’d be on the training ground right now.
I’m disappointed in the way this has been handled tbh. I just expect better from someone with a big responsibility.
For me, whatever was on the table would now be off the table, and we would no longer be an option for him.
Good luck to him, but I’m ok with the wage being freed up for someone who could really help next season. We’ve seen enough of JB to know he’s not what we need to survive the PL. Some players just can’t make that final step - he’s one of them for me.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
All seems strange how he’s just vanished, especially with the videos of him circulating asking Alan Pace to get the contract sorted or whatever it was.
Regardless, if he was to come back now with his tail between his legs, accepting he isn’t getting anything better, I don’t want him back.
It’s obvious he’s seeing what’s out there before committing to anyone, but I want players who want to be here, not who come back because there’s nothing else.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
I'm sure that, like us, clubs will form a view of any prospective players character before ploughing millions into a contract for him.
I can see that the last couple of months may have persuaded many that he's more of a mercenary than a thoroughly good egg....It's probably also plausible for them to assume that Parker isn't busting a gut to engage him for the Prem...and footage of his fairly mediocre displays in our last Prem season isn't hard to come by.
Brownhill's only real selling point is his remarkably high conversion rate of the chances he got last season...making him a fair target for ambitious championship clubs.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
Clubs returned to Pre Season 2/3 weeks ago. I can’t see a club waiting when they could have had him in the door the first day back. From a new club pov, that makes no sense. He’s obviously wanted a move away and it’s incredibly back fired. I hope we set a deadline to sign so we can move on.
Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
We have to get on with it and if that means finding a replacement for him then so be it. We can't be left hanging around waiting for his decision as he might be waiting until near the end of the window, when teams are struggling to find players they need.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
I talk BFC and football most days with friends and family and I don't think anybody is bothered anymore about Brownhill's situation .They are more interested in new signings and whether we are going to get players like Cajuste and Sergeant and who the new goalkeeper is going to beIanMcL wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 4:08 pmHave I slept and missed something, or is Josh Brownhill future, allegedly not yet finalised, anywhere?
Is he still training with us and did he go to Portugal, unlike, Trafford, who was known to be going?
If not still with us, where is he?
If with us, what is his status?
All so strange, unless ge us the 'big unveil' to add the icing.

Josh is waiting for Sean to phone when he's found a club to manage.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
Maybe his new club are happy for him to draw his final salary from Burnley in July and will sign him from 1st August thus saving themselves a month's wages.Dyched wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 11:17 amClubs returned to Pre Season 2/3 weeks ago. Who knows, just wishing Josh all the best wherever the future takes him...

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
Are you serious?
He’s not our captain any more . He’s not even still our player. We’re not paying him. Why in the name of all that’s holy should he still be rocking up unpaid at training and risking a niggle or injury that will put him properly in Dickies meadow at the end of the window?

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
Heard it all now. Should still be turning up to training when out of contract. This site has dropped to a new level of bonkers
Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
We're probably not.
That clause only kicks in if they haven't been offered a new contract or the new contract is less favourable than their existing contract.
I'd guess that Brownhill's new contract is probably on better terms.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
No idea what’s going on with Brownhill. Maybe he signed for the MLS team and is now waiting for his visa?
But I think he’s taking an unnecessary risk with his career. He’s pictured at private training and going running, what if he picked up an injury like Amdouni’s?
I can’t see why he’d want to miss a lot of pre-season, training camps and now games? Whoever he signs for he’s going to be behind the curve to start the season.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
We have to pay him until the end of July on the same terms as he was on.
Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
This is an example of the contract clause you're referring toClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 8:55 pmWe have to pay him until the end of July on the same terms as he was on.
Severance
19.1 If the Player shall not make an application to an Employment Tribunal for compensation in respect of unfair dismissal or redundancy as a result of not being offered a new contract either on terms at least as favourable as under this contract or at all then the following provisions of this clause 19 shall take effect.
19.2 If by the expiry of this contract the Club has not made to the Player an offer of re-engagement on terms at least as favourable to the Player as those applicable over the last twelve months of this contract (or the length of this contract if shorter) then subject to clauses 19.1 and 19.3 the Player shall continue to receive from his Club (as a separate payment representing compensation as more particularly referred to in the Code of Practice) a payment equal to his weekly basic wage (at the average amount of his weekly wage over the preceding 12 months of this contract or the whole of this contract if shorter) for a period of one month from the expiry of this contract or until the Player signs for another club whichever period is the shorter provided that where the Player signs for another club within that period of one month at a lower basic wage than such average then such payment shall in addition include a sum equal to the shortfall in such basic wage for the remainder of such period;
19.3 The maximum amount payable to the Player under sub clause 19.2 is double the maximum sum which an Employment Tribunal can award from time to time as a compensatory award for unfair dismissal.

I wasn’t referring to any clauses aggi, I just know he’s paid until the end of July.aggi wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 9:10 pmThis is an example of the contract clause you're referring to

Surely, we would have offered a contract better than his Championship contract? If we have then why would we be paying him?aggi wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 9:10 pmThis is an example of the contract clause you're referring to

.
If we haven't, then what is going on at the football club?
Certainly a lack of openness and honesty, if we have only offered a pittance.

I'll never understand people having a pop at Brownhill, he always gave everything when he played with the best of his ability - that's all anyone can ask.

Re: Skipper Josh Brownhill
Absolutely. I’d love him to stay. His agent has probably got him into this situation advising what he could earn elsewhere and priced him out of the market. Always gives everything and deserves another shot at the Premier League. He was definitely a better player last season than any previous one.
