It's exactly these sorts of comments that leave me concerned that the ISA isnt going to serve the needs of the wider fanbase.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 8:56 amIt's common courtesy to pronounce names correctly - his attempts were dreadful.
At least he's dropped "WE ARE MOMENTS AWAY FROM KICK OFF" and replaced it with "WE ARE SECONDS AWAY FROM KICK OFF".
Apparently the club have had lots of emails saying how good he is (no I don't believe it either).

He had 5 subs to do in one go. All tough names to pronounce and numbers flying about. Give him a bit of slack. Does it even matter ? On another note The acoustics and speakers sounded much better than the last few years.

It's not the first time I've seen you (and others) whinge on about this bloke, to the point where it's a bit weird. He's harmless. 99% don't care about it.
It's not really a stretch to imagine these are the sorts of things you'll look to influence given the grudge you seem to hold against this bloke just doing his job.

The guy is a complete clown
To crown it all yesterday, after the game ended he made a big feature of announcing WBA 1 Rovers 0, which pleased us. It felt like it was a big moment for him. When we got back to the car they were still playing and WBA had had a player sent off.
You can’t announce a final score 10 minutes before a match ends.
If he was going to announce scores he could at least have said which were final scores and which games were still ongoing.
As for his lack of preparation in terms of pronunciation- words fail me.

I wasn't there yesterday, but on league games it's a different bloke who does the scores from the studio.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 6:59 pmThe guy is a complete clown

Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
Yes I did thanks
We had screenshots of tickets and simply passed the mobile back and forth through the turnstile
Saw lots of people with children doing this
Didn’t seem to work for the family in front of us though.
Mother got through then kids and dads couldn’t get access.
Children were crying.. Dad eventually let us through and I think he was going to take kids to ticket office. By this time it was after 2.50 though.

Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
My brother took his grandson on yesterday for the first time and had both tickets on his phone. I hadn’t considered this but for a time, a very short time admittedly, one of them was in the ground waiting for the other to go in. I suppose it would be no different with paper tickets though.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 7:27 pmYes I did thanks

Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
Aso just to add to this. We literally have a player who was with Lazio up until a few weeks ago. I'm sure he could have checked a few of the pronunciations with him, or even the Lazio staff beforehand if he could be arsed
Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
Sometimes its just me and my grandson, paper tickets digital tickets it makes no difference, I let him go in first, and if there was any problem with mine, they'd have to let me in anyway.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 7:53 pmMy brother took his grandson on yesterday for the first time and had both tickets on his phone. Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
I’d never thought about it but if there was a problem with one ticket it does leave a child in a vulnerable position.
Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
That's why I let him in first, at least he's inside, and if they didn't let me in it would be a safeguarding issue, leaving a child on their own, it's never happened, and fingers crossed, it never doesClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 8:10 pmI’d never thought about it but if there was a problem with one ticket it does leave a child in a vulnerable position.

Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
The big screen has been pretty much useless for information since adi.tv took it over. It must show the lineups about twice per half at font size 10. Waste of time looking at it for anything other than the clock.Darnhill Claret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 12:23 pmWhat I found poor yesterday was not using the screens to let us know the Lazio team in the run up to kick off. Just reading out a list of names poorly was no help at all.
Then when the two team lists were finally shown, it seemed to be in a smaller font than last season, as I was having to squint to read the names, meaning it took me longer to get all the way down the list.
I had an eye test 3 weeks ago, with no change to my prescription.
Of course during the game if a player showed a bit of skill, I would look at the screen to see who it was and I would have a long wait before the team list came back 9n again.

Unfortunately, it is lagging and has been for over a season but it’s somehow beyond the capabilities of our club to find a competent provider to work with a fix that basic issue.

Compared to the Announcer at Anfield etc., the Announcer at Turf Moor, including the Sound System, is a complete amateur/joke.

Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
Our announcer is worse than Alan Brazil and that takes some beating. A bit of preparation with a team list written phonetically would make it far easier. You can even get Translator apps to give you an Audio pronunciation.
I hope we choose a Greek team to play against with him in the chair

Re: Announcer Vs Lazio
I don't think they will let you in, i had it last season. My lad went in first (luckiky he's 17) and my ST card double swiped.
I explained that my son had already gone through so it's a safety issue.
He just said I can't let you in, go and see a steward outside.
Outside the longside they had a main steward with a machine resetting ST cards.
The steward was great, but it took about 9 minutes to get back in the ground while my son was getting a bit irate with no phone signal.
Glad he wasn't younger as I would have lost my temper with the Turnstile operator.

I don't think the turnstile operators notice how old people are.
There certainly wasn't a conversation of "i think he's old enough to wait on his own while you sort the issue".
It was a flat no, i can't let you in.
