I can see the argument that Dubravka might have done better for the third goal but I think it's a stretch to say he might have saved either or the first two. In fact given the quality of the strike i think he deserves credit for getting as close to the the second as he did.

Walker and Ekdal questionable for the first (think Walker is defending as a full back not a centre half) and Esteve caught in no man's land, whilst Hartmann has to stop the cross for the second. Third is just an all round mess.

Dubravka 6
Sonne 6
Walker 7
Ekdal 7
Esteve 6 (he was at fault for the first goal - at that stage of the game just clear your lines!)
Hartman 7
Laurent 5 Completely out of his depth against this level of opponent
Cullen 5 As Laurent, but a bit less out of his depth.
Hannibal 5 Anonymous
Anthony 6
Foster 6

Subs all 6

At this level, we are so weak in the centre of midfield it’s unbelievable. Spurs played at least 4 forward passes along the ground from centre half into their forwards.

We desperately need a ball player in midfield and a poacher up top.

Otherwise we played well and gave a good account of ourselves against one of our bogey teams.
Hit the nail on the head 6-1 in a two horse race don’t need much working out let’s hope the new signings gel

Dubravka 6-his first game. All 3 goals were very well taken. I was comfortable watching him
Sonne 5-think his chance has come too soon. Lacked the physicality and awareness of opposition around him (ie Richarlisons first goal)
Walker 7 our best player. Got physicality and pace with some great challenges and recoveries
Ekdal 6-got in some good challenges, but lack of pace exposed him
Esteve 6-he was my barometer for the huge jump in pace in the PL. He did not have the time he enjoyed last year. Their first was an example
Hartmann 7. First time I have seen him. I think the shirt is his even when Bashir returns. Good movement and surprisingly good in the air for a short player
Cullen 6-maybe could have done more to keep Kudos out for 1st goal. But a gutsy captain performance showing more physicality than some other player
Laurent 5-game passed him by. Has the physique but is slow and gets pushed around and gave the ball away needlessly
Anthony 6-thought he put in a good shift against a very quick back 4.
Hannibal 5-not sure of his role yesterday but he tries the impossible and will cost us in future games
Foster 7-made some very good bursts from deep, and good lay offs

Les 7-must start future games
Flemming 5-looked overweight and slow
Edwards 5-think he will find the PL a step too far. Not sure how he will fit in
Brun Larsen 6

For large parts we played some really good football and had created more than spurs but at this level players of Kudus and Richarlison’s quality can turn a game with one chance. We don’t have anyone quite as good as that and it’s the biggest difference in this league.

Dubravka 6 a couple of decent stops, could have spread himself better for the 3rd

Sonne 4 barely looked up to the championship so will take a vast improvement to step up here

Walker 7 long ball to Anthony a particular highlight

Ekdal 5 he’s a classy centre half at the level below but he got pulled all over the gaff here

Esteve 5 looks less comfortable in a 3 than a 2

Hartman 7 like the look of him, better defensively than expected until he got skinned for the 2nd

Cullen 6 got more time on the ball than I (and maybe he) thought he would

Laurent 6 thought he was decent first half, we needed his physical presence, he covered a lot of ground and got himself into positions where it was worth having a pop.

Hannibal 4 the usual energy which we need for pressing but we then lose out having creativity further up the pitch. Wasted our best chance of the game with an unnecessary turn inside.

Anthony 6 still retains the best first touch in the squad but he was a bit in and out. Clearly clattered by porro and should have had a pen.

Foster 7 at his best when he’s running in with the ball from the flank or through when he’s got a start on the defender. Unfortunately that’s no use against van der ven

Ugochukwu 6 added a bit of drive, should have at least hit the target

Braun-Larsen 6 not sure anyone could find the best position for him when he was here before and we might have the same problem now.

A pleasantly surprising performance in parts but an all too familiar outcome. Lots of positives I think and at least we’ve gone the right way by giving the lads who got us up the first crack.

Tbf KRBFC you rated Esteve a 7 when he was directly responsible for the 1st and 3rd.

You’re not marking Ekdal and Esteve with the same metrics.
Directly responsible for the third how? We’re playing a back 5, Esteve follows the lone striker high, there should be more than enough cover behind to deal with 1 player. I’d agree if we were playing a back four and Esteve did that but typically one centre half in a 5 back will press forward at times and step into midfield.

Him stepping up and losing his duel is directly what led to the third goal.

If he didn’t step up the goal doesn’t happen.

Not sure how that’s true at all. It’s normal for a centre half to follow the striker into midfield when in a back 5. It’s completely different from playing a back 4.
