It's just people on here it seems.
When he shouts let's hear it for Burnley, 99% of the crowd respond.
So most people like it, and it's working.
They won't change it for half a dozen on here who'd rather see a parade of whippets before a game
Do you mean in the same way in which 99% of the crowd dance along to the goal music?
I’d like to see one game where we aren’t told to “make some noise” and “hear it for Burnley” and see if we know when to “make some noise” without being told

City turned off the PA before the derby on Sunday to let the fans get things going. Best atmosphere they’ve had in years according to a a few mates who have STs there.

They'd turned the speakers right down, was quiet in Jimmy Mac too.
Need to put it back as it was.

We've done it for derby matches
Fans dont seem interested for other games.

I hope and imagine that they are now working on getting the correct balance of sound (volume and tone) between the different stands. They appear to have a set up now that is much more capable of being tweaked. One problem is getting it set up when the ground is empty as the acoustics will be totally different when a noisy full crowd are in. I must say that I could follow what Robbie Blake was saying at half time a lot easier than for a long long time (In Bob Lord stand). Having the video feed of him on the big screen also helped.

I would take a guess that 99% are telling him to STFU.
They certainly are where I sit.
"Make some noise" makes it seem like people need prompting. Cringe worthy!
Your whippet comment was slightly cringey too.

It certainly wasn't turned down at HT in the JMU.
As I've said earlier up this thread, it's nigh on impossible to have a conversation once you know who goes through his script.
It makes me long for the old days when all we got was the HT scores from other grounds.
Sigh.

We don’t call him Mr. Shouty for nothing. I think HE gets excited, then raises his voice as a result. As I stated before, he’s not fit for purpose, he’s a tool.

The only time I see him criticised is on here.
Out there in the real world it’s a non-issue.
Same as most of the other stuff that boils p!ss on here, to be honest.

Here we go again.
ClaretTony, you have the power to stop these pile-ons, yet instead you join in and fuel them. I’ll continue to call this out because what I’m seeing are personal jibes aimed at someone who’s simply doing his job. Why don’t you explain that?
Do I like his style of delivery? No, I don’t enjoy the “razzmatazz” or the constant need to lift the crowd. But that’s exactly what he’s told to do. I’m tired of repeating this while you let these threads carry on. This is one of my friends you’re hanging out to dry.
If you don’t like it, direct your criticism at the board. They decide what’s required, they set the style, and they even write the scripts.
He’s a professional with decades of commercial radio experience. He works at major football and rugby stadiums, hosts at Liverpool and Manchester United, and even contributes to FIFA games.
These pile-ons always follow the same pattern:
He shouts? He’s told to.
He won’t stop talking? He’s told to.
The volume? Not his responsibility.
Pronunciation slips? Every broadcaster makes them.
Awkward half-time interviews? The questions are scripted.
Against Liverpool, the players walked out to “Together Against Suicide,” shown on the LED boards. Yet threads like this—threads you allow to continue, could themselves damage someone’s mental health. But you don’t seem to care, Tony Scholes. You come across as nothing more than a bully.

Before the the game on Sunday my lads had their game at Basnett St, near the petrol station on Eastern Avenue
I could clearly hear the teams being announced as we were packing the goals away around 12:45
That surely shows that either the column is set too high, he’s too shouty (or both)

I have spoken with the club about about the need to have a measured approach to the pre match build up.
Clearly they havent listened.
I am troubled that this has turned into a censorship issue .
Make no mistake I will be taking this further as shouting at fans as part of a match buildup, simply winds up all fans rather than it’s intended job to gee up fans.
That the announcer has not played his part in this review, shows he is lacking a huge amount of self- awareness.

Maybe he should be told to pause for breath occasionally, as I've said above, it's impossible to have a conversation at HT with his voice booming through the speakers at a ridiculously high level.
If you're happy with that, fine.
Whoever is responsible for the volume should come and spend the half time interlude in the JMU.
I can only assume whoever writes the scripts for the half time interviews also write the scripts for the new player interview which are entirely unoriginal, and awkward.

I do find it a little uneasy reading these posts/topics that have cropped up more than once. The bloke is just doing his job and as others have referred to, probably the way he’s been told to. Fair criticism and direction is fine but to use words like ‘tool’ is a step too far.
It’s beginning to remind me of the continuous posts about the set piece coach that a number definitely crossed the line of pure nastiness.

So someone is practically telling him to shout into a microphone that I would wager is already set to full volume.
Give me strength.
So whoever gives this direction is virtually saying "We don't want the fans having their own conversations, they should be listening to our scripted waffle."

Funnily enough I was just going to post something very similar. This has turned into a bit of a witch hunt and a lot of posts have crossed the line between critique and personal abuse.

If some had genuine issues with his style and volume level would it not be better for them to email the club and let them know this as oppose to hammering him on here.
The club might do something if people contacted them directly, certainly stands a better chance of some form of change contacting them rather than repeat posts on here.

As I stated before, his excitement overcomes him, that’s why he’s too loud.
If anyone is offended by the fact I called him a tool, well I apologise, thinking about it, I guess he is just trying to do his job. Albeit poorly.
