Dont think you can ever write Jimmy off but maybe this is his last test as not done much in these two test matches unless he is part of a 200 last wicket partnership that wins this game

How long do England persist with Crawley. You can’t have an opener averaging in the 20s. He can’t dine off that 267 forever.

Coming in at no 3 you expect late movement

It’s a bit like the opposition smashing one in the top corner and saying “well the keeper should expect them to shoot”.

Plenty of movement yesterday. The Aussies generally played it well though and had a bit of good fortune on their side too.

Loved how the VAR (or whatever it’s called in cricket) reached a decision quickly- no faffing around drawing lines for minutes nor looking for other errors in the run up/ delivery………and showing it on the big screens…….

Just look at the effort on Cummins face when he gets Root and Brook out. Never saw that from our bowlers except maybe Tongue

Truly shambolic. The one thing we had is time and we chose not to use it, raising our bat at short balls constantly. Even Joe, the craziness is infectious. Get the quicks out of the way and go after the part time spinners - that was the route to win.

The Brook one was a good delivery but Cummins tail was up after the Root one. Doubt he would have delivered that otherwise.

Not a single England bowler hit the stumps in Australia’s second innings. Australia have clean bowled 2 of England’s top 4.

Difficult not to the way they've played. We should have won that first test and gone into this one at 1-0 rather than 0-1, but the Aussies are the best side here by a mile and the bowling this afternoon has been exceptional.

In the first Test, England declared at 8 wickets down, with Root still in on 116 and seeing it like a football ... In the second Test, an Australian comes in at number 11, virtually crippled & batting on one leg to eke out another 11 runs to add to his team's lead !

That's the difference ....

Not any that are not constantly in the physios room unfortunately.

Archer was the big one. He really looked like he was going to be one of the best around. I’d think he’s pretty much done now. At Test level anyway.

Australia are a proper test match team. I respect what McCullum has done considering the state we were playing in 12 months ago, but we have been completely brainless in these first two tests. It’s basically shoot from the hip cricket, and it ain’t going to work against this lot.

Should have done in the first test though when they still needed 54 when the eighth wicket fell - but this is a much better Aussie side in this second test
