Cat Stevens was the star of the whole weekend for me.
And what a back catalogue he has too, many of which have been covered by other artists including Boyzone. 😎
I liked Cat at the time he was "new" but I like his songs even better now- they've really stood the test of time. As you say- some great covers by other artists as well. "First Cut" is the one I always think of- recorded by PP Arnold even before Cat recorded it (well before Rod or Cheryl Crow got hold of it).

Spice girls have been on a beg lately about playing there next year
With all due respect to them, it would be in the legend slot, not as headliners

Big thank you to whoever first mentioned The War On Drugs. Just watched an hour of them on catch up. They were excellent and I’ve already put their last two albums on my wish list, along with Tom Grennans first two and one from Christine and the Queens.
I love Glasto, my introduction to bands I’ve never heard of.
Didn't catch TWOD on tv at Glastonbury but I've listened to the album.."I don't live here anymore" this morning such a easy listening album, will download their back catalogue on Spotify and listen to the rest of their albums, there is some decent bands out there but you have to trawl through a lot of dross to find them...thanks TT 👍

Cat Stevens smashed everyone else out of the water JT,I thought his performance was flawless, time to dig his 3 best vinyl efforts out and give them a nostalgic play...no cd's or cassettes or Spotify...they have to be played on the needle..Tea for the Tillerman,Teaser and the Firecat, ...and Catch bull at Four...3 consecutive albums if I recall rightly...its almost like being back in 1970.

My eldest son has my Cat Stevens albums at his house which I could do to get back.
Not only did he write great songs but he could pull the young fillies back then too. 😄

All about opinions of course but.... I love Slave Ambient and some of Lost in a Dream (Red Eyes is probably their high watermark) but since then they've become incredibly bland to me. Not necessarily the song writing but the production of the albums. They just lacked any sort of "oomph". In my opinion, obviously.
I've just watched The War on Drugs set back ad have to say they sounded much better live than on their last couple of records.

Wish I'd gone to see them at the piece hall a couple of weeks ago now.

The set closer Under The Pressure was class.

Had a look at the Glastonbury website. There must have been hundreds of bands and artists on. The list is endless.
This is why I find it odd when people claim that a specific band smashed all the others. It's impossible to know, because only a small percentage is given TV coverage. Even if you're there, you only touch a small part of it - the Glastonbury site is massive,

Also, it's not a battle of the bands. All this 'so-and-so was the best band of the weekend and beat all the others' is a bit like being at school on a Friday morning when teenagers would fall out after watching Top of the Pops. It's all a bit arrested development.

Saw one track of theirs on the BBC Youtube. Yup, still bilge. How does it take so f**king many of them to do so little?
