Manuel Benson maybe, though I’d be absolutely guttedAfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 11:17 pmThe more they don't play, the more convinced I become that income from their sales, is what will pay for our new signings
Can’t see it for Josh Cullen - he’s Kompany’s main man.

But also Alan Peace's most profitably saleable man; I do hope it's you who is proved correct.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 11:22 pmManuel Benson maybe, though I’d be absolutely gutted

Sadly that is where my head is at too. Wonder whether the rumoured AC Milan interest was real.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 11:26 pmBut also Alan Peace's most profitably saleable man; I do hope it's you who is proved correct.
He’s clearly fit/training because he’s in all the videos so why not give him some game time?

Really hope that’s right because I’ll be gutted if he left.

Cullen played against Genk didn't he? I imagine both just have awkward injuries - Benson def has a carry forward one from last season.

If cork starts enough games to get suspended, then our recruitment has failed.TheOriginalLongsider wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 8:35 pmIt’s not 10 v 11 though. What do you learn from 10 v 10?
Cork is going to get suspended pretty early in the season by the looks of it
Re: Real Betis v Burnley (pre-season friendly) Match thread
He’s clearly not fit otherwise he’d be playing. You do reach some bizarre conclusions sometimes NewClaret. There was also no rumoured interest from any legit sources.

Cotterill brought in Alexander to play in midfield but was forced to use him mostly as full back because of injuries. Did he ever play him in the middle?spt_claret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 9:29 pmTo be fair there's been fans ahead of the game on this one- 'Duff as Striker' and 'Tarkowski as CDM' anyone?![]()
Also Grezza made that exact transition under Coyle, as did Bikey, and he also converted Elliott to a CM, but I wouldn't call Coyle a purveyor of Guardiolissimo or Total Football.
I loved Lahm, one of my alltime favourite players. One of the best right backs AND left backs of all time, a very capable CDM and I seem to remember him filling in at CB on occasion. It's actually one of the things the Fifa/Football Manager generation's approach is good for- thinking in terms of a player's qualities and attributes, and how that fits into a system around them, rather than just the position they're used to playing.

I don’t think it’s a bizarre conclusion RV. Given no details of the injury at all, he’s training but not playing even a few minutes, we’ve signed two wingers and are linked with many more, have spent a club record (?) in one window & still have CM and LB as a minimum to buy and he’s likely our most saleable asset.
It may be an incorrect conclusion and I hope it is, but not a bizarre one to draw.

We could take one of them on loan, but aren't allowed both. Who shall we have?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 10:20 pmDe Bruyne has featured twice in pre season.
The scary thing about this city team is that both Foden is struggling to even get off the bench at the moment

From memory, he made his debut for us in midfield.

Have we got any more friendlies planned, even if they are behind closed doors?
Seems strange that we would have over a 2 week break before our 1st game.

Yes BC, got back to the northeast very late last night, really enjoyable trip, Albufueira then Huelva then Seville, and the game was good too, Vincent’s wife and kids sat with the Clarets fans, the new lad from Espanyol looks promising too. UTC.
