The only thing that's annoyed me is that with three at the back, you cannot let a lone striker have space in the box - someone should have been on Richarlison.

Other than that, it's encouraging that we created so many chances and had that many touches in Spurs' box.
The movement is brilliant

Best to ignore those who simply revel in misery and negativity.

I thought it was a decent performance overall. If Hannibal had put that chance away just before Richarlison's worldie we'd have been deservedly level and it would have been a very different game. Clearly we need to become more clinical in those moments, but there was plenty to be positive about and build on today.
'... in those moments' You've been listening to the boss. :D

[quote=)

Ekdal had a shocker. Most of whatever budget is left must go on a centre-half.
[/quote]

Here we go player ratings done before the match against players for some reason some won't give a chance to. Ekdal was as good as any Burnley player today

I won't be confident either way such is the challenge of the PL.

But one of my immediate questions during the first game of the season wouldn't be, is next week a must win game?

I wasn't sure if you'd just forgotten some sort of emoji on the end of your question.
Given that Sunderland were one of the teams, that most on here were saying we need to finish above, in order to stay up, I don't think it was an unreasonable question.

Remember how long it took last time in the PL to win a home game?

Sod it. I stand by my comment. I think it's a must win!

If there was one guarantee from today's line up, it was Burnley nill.

Need a massive improvement to the side if we are going to score goals in this league. Fortunately we have better players to come in.

Ekdal is decent but far too slow at this level. We can't be relying on hom as a starter

I think taking snap shots when the chance arise is not encouraged as even in the friendlies ie. Lazio players had chances to shoot yet either chose to take a touch or pass and I really believe it`s a skill we need to master if we are to score goals this season

Biggest positive of the day was fosters performance, if we can have a sharp foster with broja as one of the 10e then I feel they can have a good partnership.

I agree, thought he showed real signs of being a good striker at this level.

This style certainly suits him

Proper predictable garbage, looked at the side before kick off and knew we wouldn’t score for love nor money. Then you look at the defence, Sonne and Ekdal were so far out of their depth it was frightening but I could’ve told you that before a ball was kicked.

I was asking where the right sided centre half signing was, I was shut down as being negative and told to look in the direction of the superstar Ekdal. Well I’m sorry but he’s not good enough and worse than CJ.

It’s proper strange how players get better at BFC the more they don’t play. Ekdal the latest example.

Totally agree, and Broja can play as one of the 10s.

3-0 is such a frustrating result because the narrative of media will be same old promoted team without actually seeing for large parts we looked good and limited spurs to very few clear chances.

I must add, I don’t blame Parker at all, I think he could keep us up but what’s he seriously supposed to do when he’s hands are tied behind his back? Get promoted then lose 3 of your 4 stand out players then forced to replace them with players who were behind them in the pecking order last season.

We had more shots and more shots on goal today than PSG did against Spurs in midweek mate.

When I saw the line up before the game I texted my son in England and said we wouldn’t score and it could be a three niller to Spurs. It was all what I expected, although we did have a few good periods when we kept the ball quite well without ever looking like scoring. I expect changes in the starting eleven for next Saturday’s big game against Sunderland.

We were well beaten by the team that finished 17th in the league last season. This is why it is getting harder and harder to stay up.
At some point either the big clubs will form their super league and take the money with them, or the prem will scrap relegation and be reduced to 16 teams.

Spurs today were nothing like their lineup for the majority of last season.

I was hoping Beyer would be back but alas he’s injured again so can’t be relied on it seems.

I know he had a bit of a torrid time last time in this league but he has some good attributes if fit.

Rough cost of the Spurs starting 11 today is 310 million euros, ours was around 80 million euros

I can't quite put my finger on why we didn't score plenty and win comfortably

Well played Burnley this result was never going to define our season.

The perfornace was very good against a top side.

Spurs will be there or there abouts this season under Frank without doubt and we worried them at times.

Only thing I would say is that we need a PL standard finisher.
Agreed. Anyone won Euromillions?

Mind you....if we sold half our surplus, we could get close!

Not going to play Spurs away every week who should have beat the champions league winners last Wednesday.

Didn’t take our chances but we will improve

Now in the beehive surrounded by spurs fans watching the city game

Life is good

I’m sorry but you can’t get promoted, lose 3 of your best players including your club captain and top goalscorer, the other 2 being your GK and centre half part of a record breaking defensive unit.

the foundation it was all built on has gone and where are the replacements? Their understudies last season at a Lower level?

That’s why it was all predictable today

Too soon pal - might be a good idea to wait a few weeks

Lost against spurs away

1. Still a proper chance
2. Still a proper chance
3. Clean through and heading into the top corner but Romero blocked it.

Unless you only count proper chances as babylining and tapping it in, in which case you’re in for a very depressing season I’d give up now if I were you.

I thought that there was glimpses of something that should give us hope.

Was never going to be anything other than an outside chance of getting anything from this game.

When the new striker is fit and playing, I think we will find a bit more upfront however there is going to be a learning curve for some of the players

Nothing to be ashamed of today and I liked Lesley when he came on. I don’t think the score really reflected the game and we just need to get everyone fit quickly.

It’s going to be a very tough season and one game doesn’t make or break our season.

All three departures had inevitably about them. No point skriking about it.
It’s not the fact they’ve left that’s irritating, it’s the lack of replacements.

Give the new signings time, and recognise the difference in level - you had no time for Brownhill in the Premier League.

I don’t know how you’re still missing the point, I don’t care that Brownhill has gone but he needs replacing. Where is that replacement? Ekdal is not a new signing.

Strange match. After a horrible opening 10 minutes culminating in their opener I thought we grew in confidence and played well.We got into a lot of good positions and weren't shy to pull the trigger which is encouraging. But there was a real lack of quality in and around the box, most notably summed up by Walker's overhit ball across the box to Anthony and Hannibal chopping the ball back instead of shooting.

Lots of cause for optimism, but some concerns. Dubravka didn't do enough to prevent all three goals, Ekdal just isn't quick enough for this level - even with the pace of Walker and Esteve either side, if one of those decides to dive in and miss a challenge on the halfway line he is left isolated. And most importantly, where are the goals going to come from?

Went in the beehive before the game shire , now at the george near the station . A lot of spurs fans thought we played well today ( as I do ) and say we were the better team side first half . Big Les looked a strong lad when he came on and an upgrade to Laurent . If only Hannibal had just hit it , who knows what could of happened . Back to the Peroni haha

From what i saw, Burnley played really well - should have at least scored
Missed too many chances, or played the wrong ball at times on the attack - 1st game new players, away at a european champions ground
Not arsed for today - just got to perform v Sunderland
