just a reminder that Chelsea paid about 100 million for Lukaku. I'd say THAT is a meh signing for that kind of money
Very true.

This lad could turn out to be a world builder. Let’s hope he is.

We could take any 1 of your players on a simplistic whim without resistance I'm hoping we have our sights set higher than your goalkeeper but the Collins chap is a tantalising prospect with the age & I hope our recruitment will take him.

Any one of our players? Just the one? Could I possibly interest you in a young chap called Dale Stephens...?

'His latest release is from the Dutch 2nd tier, it's not a great standard'

So you have judged a player as being really poor and League One at best despite knowing nothing about him other than a few clubs he's been at.

Sounds like you have an innate ability there.
Screen shot this, this could be one of the extreamely rare occasions I'm wrong, and that could be a major scoop for you.

Don't worry though I'll not come back in 12-18 months saying I told you so, if I was that sort of guy I'd have to hunt down people daily to gloat, and that's not my style.

Irish Sun, no doubt an article to fill space on the back of his goal with words like might, may, possibly, could all without saying anything

I would expect Collins to be away if a decent off came in. He is young and has made a great start to his premiership career. He will not want to drop a level at this stage if an opportunity came along at another club.

It’s certainly not the best

Only thing I found interesting was Collins saying he doesn’t know where he will end up. I’m assuming he will have plenty of suitors, up to Kompany and Pace to get him to commit.

The comments quoted in another paper are more promising

‘Vincent Kompany was announced as the club’s new manager yesterday, though Collins has not yet had a chance to speak with him. He has scoped him out with Josh Cullen, however, who worked with Kompany at Anderlecht.

“I was talking to Josh, messing saying he’s coming back to Burnley with me. Josh said he’s a good man and I’m looking forward to working with him. He’s a natural leader isn’t he? He was a top player and has done it at the top level. He has shown that over many years, and everyone knows how good a manager he is too. He has done a really good job with Anderlecht and I think he is a really top guy, from the outside anyway.”’

I am hoping Pace & VK sit down with Collins to tell him how vital he is to our plans. Consider making him captain now Mee has gone, and tell him that if we win promotion then great, you will be in the PL again. If we don't then we will consider offers for you next May. I think Nathan may not play regularly for a while if he goes to a strong PL side. He still has a mistake in him and the PL as he knows is unkind. With us he will play all 46 league games if fit, and his value will seriously increase in 10 months if he keeps his form up. Plus to replace him will drain our funds. He will not lose his international place with us regardless of our decision

Unless there’s a release clause or astronomical bid, I can’t see Collins going this summer. It’d leave us 3 centre halves short, unless Bobby Thomas is in the thinking.

Too much to do in one position with so many other holes in the squad.

I love Nick Pope to bits and he is the best goalkeeper I have ever seen for us.

But...

This is good news. Wayne Hennessey is a perfectly adept keeper for the Championship and we need a minimum of one big sale this summer I'd have said. Newcastle will pay more than anyone else (I'd guess minimum £25m is in the offing from them).

Hopefully if this happened we would treat their odious owners the same as every other club in Europe and stick another 5-10m on the asking price

Like I've been saying, the most realistic club he'd go to that's left.

I think he'd be an outstanding signing for them, with the stage they are at right now and where they want to go to.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned elsewhere but the other consideration as far as our 'keepers are concerned is that Hennessey as Wales current no. 1 will surely want to be playing regular first team football in the build-up to the World Cup

There is also the very real chance Kompany won't want him for the progressive/build from the back type of football he plays - as insane as that sounds.

I know they have completely lost the plot, but even so they must see Pope as an improvement on Dubravka surely?

Or do they think they should be getting Allison?

It will be interesting to see what fee they are discussing.

I’ll have a guess at somewhere between 15-20m.

If there were more clubs in we could have squeezed over 20m.

I'd love to see Newcastle crash and burn, and just because they now have the Saudi money behind them doesn't guarantee success in itself.

However if they want Pope, and we can rinse an extra £5-10m out of them then great.

Nixon did say we put a 40m valuation.

But the thing is, we are in a position where

- Burnley probably want to sell (to reinvest for the rebuild/VK wants a ball playing keeper)

- there don’t appear to be any other likely destinations in the PL for him (as discussed on the previous pages), so if Newc go elsewhere, that’s it

- NP ideally needs PL football to keep battling for a World Cup place

So that to me suggests it’s way more in the buyers favour for a good deal here and we can’t really play hard ball

Out of contract next summer and I suppose it depends whether option of further extension contract is in favour of club or player

Yep with being in the Champ that extra year might be in favour of the player, like with Cork, who knows.

And £10m I think is too low but something between 15-20 and we’ll snap their hands off.

He seems to spend his life being wrong so that is good. Pope isn't out of contract either there is the option of another year in the clubs favour so effectively 2 year

He seems to spend his life being wrong so that is good. Pope isn't out of contract either there is the option of another year in the clubs favour so effectively 2 year
Is it in the clubs favour though? Cork had something similar in his deal and he looks to be looking for suitors elsewhere

He has a year option in our favour I think on top of the remaining year.

Alex Crook on Talksport suggesting it could be as little as £10m
Out of contract next summer and I suppose it depends whether option of further extension contract is in favour of club or player
That wouldn’t surprise me tbh. It’s pretty much the going rate for a keeper over 30

Luke Edwards who’s northern football writer for Telegraph also confirming the interest:

‘As per @SkySports_Keith #nufc are looking at a deal to sign Nick Pope. I don’t know how advanced pursuit is and goalkeeper not one of the priority positions in recruitment meetings but it’s an area of interest. As revealed last month club had no interest at all in Dean Henderson‘

Do we know it’s still active in the Champ? Everyone thought Cork’s was in the clubs favour but not if relegated. Pope may be the same?
