Basically if you allowed that you could bowl around the wicket trying to get the ball to hit the stumps behind the batter - would make it hard for the batter to attempt to play a shot constantly across his/her body.

It’s a bit of a blind spot so they’ve allowed a batsmen to be allowed to pad those deliveries away.

Both England and Australia fined for slow over rates. As it's been pointed out, why don't they just bring a timer in, like they've done in tennis.

Yup some of them deliveries are basically unplayable - but at least you have the option of padding them out if you’re good enough pick them… easier said than done mind
