Ok, I'm only having a bit of fun but:BigGaz wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 3:54 pmThey already have.
I said that they were trying to lump in a player with the Trafford deal to get the price down, that was most likely to be Ortega or Phillips, we know now it was Ortega, but that part fell through so we just took the cash.
Was told Brownhill wouldn't sign on and fancies abroad, which he will do unless someone here offers stupid money.
Was told Cajuste was more advanced than what is being reported and I've not heard anything to the contrary since.
So I think my guy isn't a busted flush just yet. Let's see!
1) It appears Ortega was never part of our plan
2) This was a "win-win" scenario - he moves abroad; you "win", he signs for an English team; you, er, "win"
3) Cajuste - looks like he's on a very advanced move ........ to Saudi
As I say, I'm only having a laugh, but it does show many "ITK" posters/contacts may not be actually that.
Honestly, BigGaz, no offence meant

Geordies is from King George and they were all through Newcastle and Durham. Just because it has become synonymous with Newcastle doesn’t make the others un-Geordie.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 8:30 pmHmmm, I’m not sure my family who are actual Geordies would agree with you.

1. He didn't say BFC wanted Ortega, he said multiple City players were being offered as part of the deal.
2. Cajuste - Doesn't mean it wasn't planned he came, until his head was turned (but even this could be BS).
Transfer are a moving target and until something is signed nothing is guaranteed. It doesn't mean the rumour of it potentially happening is true, and that it could have done.

I don't think you're wrong NewClaret. I think he had a very underwhelming start to his Arse career and then he did something stupid that I CBA going to remind myself what It was. I want to say he ripped the captains armband off or had a go at the crowd/gaffer on the pitch and got publicly stripped of it? He was on the **** list after that for a while but I think he had a bit of a renaissance after that and by the time he left he was a favourite. So I think everyone's right.
Re: Summer transfer window
It never ends on here does it ... I log on to see if there is any news of incoming transfers following Traffords move to City, and we've got a few arguing amongst themselves if Sunderland are geordies or not, who cares. Pointless shi-ite.

If I’m reading this right, Nixon is actually confirming that £27m is indeed the cash amount we will receive…?123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 7:57 pmBy Alan Nixon
Burnley made a stunning £12.8 million profit on keeper by selling him back to Manchester City.
The Clarets spent £15 million on the shot stopper when he signed from City two years ago and picked up £31 million on his return to City.
City qualify for £3.2 million to be paid back as a 20 per cent of the £16 million profit which is why some sources wrongly quote the price at £27 million.
Burnley plan to spend the cash on three new additions with the likelihood that Trafford’s replacement will be relatively cheap - with the bulk spent on a striker.
City offered keeper Stefan Ortega as part of the deal but Burnley have their own ideas.
Seems we didn’t want Ortega, if you believe noxon

At least nobody's really gone after Esteve with huge intent. We wouldn't have been able to say no if a big club had come in with 40 or 50 mill. It's still possible but let's hope that doesn't happen.

I see Sunderland and their super duper collective of players that are lightyears ahead of ours have just been beaten 2-1 by Hull, a side that clung onto their championship status by goal difference, having last week been fisted 3-0 by European powerhouse *checks notes* Hearts.
Dread to think how badly we'd have got pumped by Hull and Hearts given how far in Sunderland's rear view mirror we are.

We all love our Clarets and only ever want the best for them. Let's see what this season brings - it's going to be very tough but I'd prefer to keep testing ourselves in the PL rather than, I don't know say a team like Blackburn, who never get the chance

Come on, let's do it! UTC!

Newcastle agree season long loan for Ramsdale, with option to buy.
One of Pope or Dubravka will be leaving. Personally I’d be happy with either.

Re: Summer transfer window
Xhaka was and is a very good player, but I remember a lot of flak from Arsenal fans as he tended to pick up stupid suspensions in crucial games. Think he got sent off against us and I vaguely remember in a cup semi final too.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 6:49 pmI'm with NewClaret on this, I've no idea how he's done at Leverkusen, but I certainly remember him getting plenty of stick from Arsenal fans when he was there. Not saying he won't be good for Sunderland, mind
Seems like he calmed down at Leverkusen, but he was playing in a dominant ball playing team at a slower pace. It will be intriguing to see how he gets on a in a team that will have less of the ball and chasing games, but it’s undoubtedly a coup for Sunderland, albeit an expensive one.

But I have noticed that V Vanat from Dynamo Zagreb has yet to be signed by Sunderland.
Wonder if that’s the striker we will go for now that his release clause has been made public (17m).

To be fair, someone on here said that Hannibal should never play for us again after a red card, and he's probably going to be starting regularly for us in the prem now. You'll always get the extreme element on here.

Re: Summer transfer window
Dubravka looked better than Pope the bits i watched of Newcastle last season.
Re: Summer transfer window
Dubravka is a very good goalkeeper. It's just that he isn't good enough for the Newcastle fans now they are rich. I find it hilarious that they keep losing out on their targets.
Re: Summer transfer window
Man U interested in Pope according to the BBC. City have told Ortega that he can go.

Whilst Pope is still very good at some things some of you might want to look at his shot stopping down near his feet over the last 24 months - it's not what it once was. I'm assuming it's the injuries catching up with him - I'd still have him here though

Famous last words but I think Sunderland have signed the wrong profile of player required to stay up/be competitive in the Premier League.

Re: Summer transfer window
I doubt it means our budget is £13 million, it probably means it goes into the pot for the three players we want. I also expect us to loan at least one player so we may not need all the funds for permanent signings. Three is a minimum really, we definitely need a keeper, a central midfielder and striker but like many on here would prefer two midfielders to come in, especially now Brownhill has departed.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 11:07 pmIf we are using 13 million for 3 players we might as well not bother
If we believe that Weiss can be a long term solution to our goalkeeping issue, then signing a 36 year old Dubravka until Weiss is ready could be ideal. I don't expect him to cost that much and he looks to be surplus to requirements in the North East now Ramsdale has signed.

Perhaps a better plan to strengthen our team is tough tackling cm to actually cut down the amount of corners by winning the ball before giving away corners.Harrison Reed was mentioned several times and imo would be an excellent Brownhill replacement.

Surely Ransay and JBL are the likely people to replace Brownhill? I want a solid CDM to play alongside Cullen. A new CF and a solid keeper (would like Johnstone). Don't think we are too far away from a competitive lower mid EPL squad at that.
