I said that they were trying to lump in a player with the Trafford deal to get the price down, that was most likely to be Ortega or Phillips, we know now it was Ortega, but that part fell through so we just took the cash.

Was told Brownhill wouldn't sign on and fancies abroad, which he will do unless someone here offers stupid money.

Was told Cajuste was more advanced than what is being reported and I've not heard anything to the contrary since.

So I think my guy isn't a busted flush just yet. Let's see!

1. He didn't say BFC wanted Ortega, he said multiple City players were being offered as part of the deal.
2. Cajuste - Doesn't mean it wasn't planned he came, until his head was turned (but even this could be BS).

Transfer are a moving target and until something is signed nothing is guaranteed. It doesn't mean the rumour of it potentially happening is true, and that it could have done.

I don't think you're wrong NewClaret. I think he had a very underwhelming start to his Arse career and then he did something stupid that I CBA going to remind myself what It was. I want to say he ripped the captains armband off or had a go at the crowd/gaffer on the pitch and got publicly stripped of it? He was on the **** list after that for a while but I think he had a bit of a renaissance after that and by the time he left he was a favourite. So I think everyone's right.

Absolutely none taken mate. I am not itk, will never be itk and am as clueless as the next bloke other than I have a pal who deals with agents for a PL club and he feeds me bits here and there. Sometimes it's right, often it's wrong (and often it's not wrong but ends up falling through for various reasons). I've offered to stop sharing a few times before and I'm happy to but people seem to like it and tell me not to

Burnley made a stunning £12.8 million profit on keeper by selling him back to Manchester City.

The Clarets spent £15 million on the shot stopper when he signed from City two years ago and picked up £31 million on his return to City.

City qualify for £3.2 million to be paid back as a 20 per cent of the £16 million profit which is why some sources wrongly quote the price at £27 million.

Burnley plan to spend the cash on three new additions with the likelihood that Trafford’s replacement will be relatively cheap - with the bulk spent on a striker.

City offered keeper Stefan Ortega as part of the deal but Burnley have their own ideas.

I'm with NewClaret on this, I've no idea how he's done at Leverkusen, but I certainly remember him getting plenty of stick from Arsenal fans when he was there. Not saying he won't be good for Sunderland, mind

Xhaka was and is a very good player, but I remember a lot of flak from Arsenal fans as he tended to pick up stupid suspensions in crucial games. Think he got sent off against us and I vaguely remember in a cup semi final too.

Seems like he calmed down at Leverkusen, but he was playing in a dominant ball playing team at a slower pace. It will be intriguing to see how he gets on a in a team that will have less of the ball and chasing games, but it’s undoubtedly a coup for Sunderland, albeit an expensive one.

I doubt it means our budget is £13 million, it probably means it goes into the pot for the three players we want. I also expect us to loan at least one player so we may not need all the funds for permanent signings. Three is a minimum really, we definitely need a keeper, a central midfielder and striker but like many on here would prefer two midfielders to come in, especially now Brownhill has departed.

If we believe that Weiss can be a long term solution to our goalkeeping issue, then signing a 36 year old Dubravka until Weiss is ready could be ideal. I don't expect him to cost that much and he looks to be surplus to requirements in the North East now Ramsdale has signed.

yeah very tongue in cheek mate. We deffo need an experienced keeper who is good on set pieces - we will face a lot of corners this season. The next 10 days is huge for ALK imho

Personally think that Oxlaide Chamberlain will be the Brownhill replacement.
