Westwood has been a regular under Dyche and Vydra has not. Only natural for him or his agent to be pushing for a move.

I could see the club trying to sell Vydra, he only has 11 months left on his contract and given the comments from his agent when the club took up his 1 year option, I think it’s safe to assume Vydra would not sign another deal

We simply cannot sell him unless we bring in at least two quick players who are first team ready. Otherwise we are one dimensional 100% of the time

We need to throw some big £££ at Vydra to get him extended (and play him, of course). That or sell now and sign a quick replacement with the money.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 7:01 pmI could see the club trying to sell Vydra, he only has 11 months left on his contract and given the comments from his agent when the club took up his 1 year option, I think it’s safe to assume Vydra would not sign another deal

Really hope Vydra is being held back rather than shipped out. For me by the end of last season he was growing into the team and was becoming far more dangerous week on week. He’s a menace for defenders, in a different way to Barnes who I think is due a lot more respect than he gets on here at times. I find it somewhat strange that a blood and guts striker is not appreciated… Whereas they have hero worshipped in the past.

I can see the club discussing his long term future now, if he has indicated he wants to leave to get regular playing time I could understand the club trying to get some funds for him

Hopefully other teams have read this message board and realised that Vydra is better than Messi and there is a +£70m bid on the table.

Dyche, when asked about Vydra said the same as Westwood - it doesn’t look long term. Some people.

Manager Sean Dyche confirms that Ashley Westwood misses out through a toe injury and Matej Vydra has a knock
Yet after the game he said Vydra was out with a groin injury.
I wouldn’t class a groin injury as a knock.
Perhaps I’m reading too much to it.

I think your reading too much into it. A minor groin injury can definitely be considered a knock...beddie wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 9:29 pmBurnley FC

I am assuming we are starting to move down our list of targets now

I'd suggest that in a friendly designed to get certain players up to speed, the manager would have removed Vydra at half time unless he was intended to play the 90.beddie wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 9:29 pmBurnley FC

I doubt very much that either of the two Sheffield clubs are in for Stuart Armstrong. He's been one of Southampton's best players for the last couple of seasons.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 9:47 pmApologies, Stuart Armstrong. Don’t know much about him other than he’s a midfielder for Southampton. Looks like he has played RM for the last couple of seasons
I would very much like to think we could get him as he's a cracking player and just what we need, but I highly doubt it. Could you provide a link to this from Nixon please as I can't see it on his twitter?

I’d be absolutely delighted if we signed him. He’s an archetypal Dyche player, but with plenty of quality. Still can’t see it though.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Nixon’s article
Not written very well, on second look I think he is saying we are after Christie not Armstrong
“Southampton are working on a move for Celtic’s Ryan Christie — but are willing to wait until he is free.
The Scotland attacking midfielder, 26, is out of contract at the end of the year and available for a low price before this window shuts.
Ironically the deal could be accelerated if former Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong moves on from St Mary’s.
Saints could step in while Burnley and Sheffield United have him further down their wanted lists.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche may turn to him if the price is right as the summer transfer window is slowly coming to an end.“

I can understand why they got it wrong. I read it as they could be forced into going for Christie with Armstrong potentially on the move to Sheffield or Burnley.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 9:59 pmNixon's tweet did say that the blades page had got it completely wrong. However I think your right it’s referring to Christie
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
That would make much more sense - I just couldn’t see Saints letting Armstrong leave anytime soon, and the idea he’d go to the championship laughable.
I’d still be happy with us signing Christie though. Good player.

So if I’m reading that correctly, Saints are “working on” a move but could wait. And we could move for Armstrong but may not.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 9:56 pmNixon’s article

I don't think there has been any real news in this thread for 20 days now.
I want to believe our transfer window will be better with ALK in charge, but I now highly doubt we will sign anyone else. I don't think it is ALK or the previous chairman preventing our signings from going through anymore.

We’ll see. I want to believe things are different now, that we have a decent budget, the “good strategy” that Pace says we have and owners who’ll execute it with some ambition.Steddyman wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:08 pmI don't think there has been any real news in this thread for 20 days now.

Reality is that all we’ve heard to date is words and in the next 10 days we’ll find out what they’re made of. No hiding place after this window.

If we don't sign anyone this window, allied to the previous windows, then we are down to one culprit for why we've not signed anyone unfortunately
Thats why I really hope we sign the players we need as we all might have to accept something that we don't want to

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Pretty much agree with you. I think there’s more than suspicions as to where our recruitment problems are. Where i slightly differ from you is I hope we sign the required players to improve the team and strengthen the club. Not overly interested in people’s perceptions of the manager. The club is bigger than any one person and that includes Dyche.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:19 pmIf we don't sign anyone this window, allied to the previous windows, then we are down to one culprit for why we've not signed anyone unfortunately

Fingers crossed. If we can get him as well as a Will Hughes/Christie type we would boost our squad hugely.
