I think if we get promoted Brownhill signs again.
If not, he won't be going to Rangers either way surely

Would be a strange one. Although Ekdal and Delcroix could well move on, Egan only on a 12 month deal.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:29 amTwittersphere reports suggesting we have rmade an offer to Galatasaray for their Danish defender Victor Nelsson.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
We were linked with Nelsson in summer 2021 when he was still at Copenhagen. We were then linked again after he’d gone to Gala in summer 2023.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:29 amTwittersphere reports suggesting we have rmade an offer to Galatasaray for their Danish defender Victor Nelsson.
Gala need to raise funds and also get foreign players off their books, but this looks like lazy recycling. We don’t need any centre halves, unless Beyer is being written off and there’s no backing for CJER at Premier League level.

Could imagine Tresor being involved in a deal like this.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 11:29 amTwittersphere reports suggesting we have rmade an offer to Galatasaray for their Danish defender Victor Nelsson.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Transfermarkt has his value at €14M. Doubt we’d be paying that, so I do wonder if a straight swap with Tresor could be on the cards.

I hope we’re not swapping attacking players for more defenders!!!
Does seem we’ve held a long term interest in this guy but hoping it’s just a recycled story and our priorities lie elsewhere!

As above, they are trying to get rid of foreign players, so adding another one in Tresor wouldn't make sense, even though a move to Turkey is probably the sort he'll get, like Weghorst did.
Gala trying to raise funds and get foreign player slots for an ambitious move for Dybala.

Pires jut signed from La Liga, a level far higher than our current one. He's 8 months into a new country where he doesn't speak the language, I'm not surprised he hasn't turned up as the finished article. Give him time.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 12:20 pmHumphreys isn’t a concern…..but I personally don’t think Pires is up to the required standard. Therefore, another left back (maybe a specialist left back with a bit of experience) would strengthen us and allow squad rotation with Humphreys. Pires is a very strange player but ultimately I don’t think he’s good enough for what we need.

I’ve seen enough on his footballing ability to form an opinion - regardless of whether he speaks the language or has changed country.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 2:51 pmPires jut signed from La Liga, a level far higher than our current one. He’s not particularly quick, is lightweight, weak in the tackle and his general footballing ability is nowhere near recent left backs we’ve had.
All my opinion, of course….

I like the look of Pires. Personally I think he’s a better option against teams in this league that play the low block than Humphreys but do think he’s the more dependable defender currently.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 2:51 pmPires jut signed from La Liga, a level far higher than our current one. As you point out he played 28 games in La Liga last year - a far higher level than we’re currently playing. He’s very good but probably needs some work positionally.
Not sure we should be writing any players off on the basis of Evan Riley’s emergence and Parkers pretty impressive record of getting the best out of defenders this year.

Of the two current CB's one is OOC this summer and the other supposedly being looked at by a number of Prem clubs
We could well be looking for replacements this summer
As for Brownhill, I just think he will get far better offers from other clubs than we could match this summer

Actually, the invisible man could be a great signing! Never offside, always in the right place, able to push their keep into the goal etc. Sorted.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 2:29 pmTo be fair there’s not a lot to remember you could legitimise the argument that the invisible man had more presence than absent Mike.

It all depends how his invisibility works.
If it's like The Invisible Man we'll still be able to see his kit.
We need somebody with the power of The Bearer of the One Ring to take full advantage.

Richard Kone at Wycombe is a striker we should be looking at, 21 years 14 goals and 2 assists in all comps. Look at the likes of Toney and Watkins who all shone at league 1 level.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
What type of striker do we need?
A target man to lay the ball off for Fleming, or a goal poacher who knows how to find space in a crowded 6 yd box.
I doubt we can afford both, but with the way we play I think we need the latter. the number of chances inside the area we fluff is incredible. It's a different skill set, and I'm not familiar enough with lower league football to know if there are any bargains out there, but a junkyard dog would be ideal.

I posted about Poku on this forum during November as a player worth keeping an eye on only for him to suffer a severe hamstring injury a few matches later. Required surgery and would be out for 3 months according to his manager Darren Ferguson when he spoke in early December about the player’s recovery period.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 5:08 pmThe lad Poku from Peterborough is getting a lot of interest too

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
In regards League One players, worth noting Scott Twine Luke McNally did brilliantly at that level and never made an impact with us.
Yes there’s always the Ivan Toney example but as a general rule very few league one players make the immediate step up and even more rarely make their mark on the premier league.
If that’s where we’re hoping to be next season I hope we’re setting our sights higher.

For me the twine signing didn’t make much sense from the start. Was McNally that highly rated in league 1? Don’t remember much talk of him before we signed him

I can’t say I know anything about the players you mention, they may be world beaters, I’m just making a general point that few actually deliver the goods straight away in the Championship and even more rarely in Premier League. If that’s where we’re hoping want to be, we have to be looking at players who we think could impact that division.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 6:27 pmI do understand the Scott twine example to a degree, but Kone is 21, twine was 23. That might be tough but that’s where I think we need to be looking; top academy prospects that need game time in the Maatsen/Tella mould (maybe Guiu now?), fringe players surplus to requirements that need to be put in the shop window (Buendia?), players in foreign leagues that have experience in England (Benrahma, McBurnie?), or just top prospects from higher foreign leagues - although they aren’t without risk like Tresor.
The specific players mentioned might not be attainable, I’m just saying they’re the types that we should be interested in for a tough run in. Ones that we think can have an immediate impact on the first team, bring a step up in quality and experience.
I’m not saying there are no unearthed gems in League One, there might be, but we need signings for the specific challenge ahead - a title/promotion chase in a brutal league - and that excludes young lads that are taking a step up in level, in my opinion.

NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 6:46 pmHave liked this because I agree with the sentiment of the post, but the reality is that this team would be getting smashed week in, week out in the premier league and then it’s very difficult to be united, ‘a team of men’ that ‘give every ounce of energy’ for the team. Fans get all excited about things like this when we’re winning; beating teams in a league where we have far superior players. Which is great but then they criticise them to high heavens when they lose against teams of far higher quality in the league above. We as fans just need to be way more consistent and understanding of the circumstances our club and players are facing.
It’s a bit like the Trafford criticism. I don’t buy that he’s massively improved. He’s got a bit better at a few things but in general the reason he’s looked way better is because the opposition are levels below what he was playing last season.
I think Parker has been sensational, I’m beyond delighted with him, but comparing the man management capabilities to Kompany is pretty futile until we’ve seen them in comparable circumstances. It’s easy to motivate when you’re being successful, far harder when you’re not.
What we can say is he’s provided exactly what we needed after Kompany and relegation, which I think is a denonstrates his maturity and experience as a manager. And outside of that he’s got involved in the community in a way I don’t think Kompany ever did, which buys him huge credit in my book. It’s so great to see.
Football isn’t black and white how do you know we would be getting smashed week in week out? supporters said that when we got promoted under Dyche and it rarely happened. A large portion of these players wouldn’t be playing in the prem anyway but I actually think they would do okay probably still go down but be nowhere near as bad as you suggest.
Agree with the rest

The link up play bit is every bit as important as the goals. Can never guarantee he will score at this level but if he has something else to bring to the party then it's more likely to be a risk worth taking.claretspice wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2024 8:16 pmSaw him a few weeks ago as Wycombe thrashed Stockport 5-0 and he was terrific.
