what is it you don't like ? His skill, his goals or his work rate ? IF he's fit he walks into our side

Re: Summer transfer window
He just goes missing far too often in games. He did for Chelsea (apart from under Lampard), he did for England and he has for Man Utd. He has an engine on him, but that’s about it. I’m just not a fan.

Simeone has scored 2 goals in his last 58 league games (6 in his last 82) is 30 years old and currently carrying a back injury.
Jovic could be worth a gamble, I'd hardly say he's ready made given he had one good season in 2019, went to Real Madrid and then backwards from there. Had his own share of injury issues too.
Re: Summer transfer window
Thought we’d have a goalkeeper in the day after Trafford was sold to be honest. Probably just 1 pre season game at most to get anyone else up to speed now.

Re: Summer transfer window
Options like Mount, however unlikely, seem more likely when we have Walker on board, someone current (unlike Parker) who these fringe England players may greatly respect as an England regular over the last decade. If he gives a target a ring and says how great it is here, that will help a lot.

I think being a world cup year will massively help us - people need to be playing to have a chance of making teams.

Mason Mount was brilliant when he stopped DL v Derby .Since then his career has followed a Danny Drinkwater style dramatic downward fall

Believe we might be looking at someone currently playing in the London area, lol.
Re: Summer transfer window
Mason mount to Burnley would be an incredible coup. Not only can we not afford his wages there would be a host of far more attractive clubs willing to take him on loan, in England and abroad. Absolutely non starter

No to Mason Mount, no to Xhaka
As the saying goes, we're Burnley not Barcelona, there's many a player would make us better but heaven forbid they're not good enough for some on this board

I'd too say unlikely. Know he is very highly rated, when fit, by Amorin and the Man U staff.

Re: Summer transfer window
I’m well aware that I’m going to be in the minority here on my opinion of him as a footballer, and to be honest yes it would be a coup for us but I just have concerns about him drifting out of games far too often. He’s one of those players where I could watch a match for an hour and not even realise he was playing. That’s a great quality to have as a holding midfielder or a Westwood type, not if you’re supposed to be creative like mount is.KernowHouseClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 7:32 pmSome of the comments on this board...

So we are looking for someone currently playing in London, along with currently dealing with both Manchester clubs, whilst negotiating 3 players as part of the Trafford deal, whilst also having Cajuste being a done dealDarnhill Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 7:20 pmBelieve we might be looking at someone currently playing in the London area, lol.

Mason Mount has moved for serious money and as a Chelsea and Man U player got the obligatory England cap. However , like others on here I have reservations .Mason has ability but he doesn't always deliver that is unfortunately a fact .

I can’t believe we’re really serious contenders for Mount, but I think he’s a very good player Parker could get the best out of.
Far more realistic targets at Man United if it’s true we’re we’re interested in one of their players.

Re: Summer transfer window
Does foster being given the no 9 shirt alter your view?ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 1:38 pmOk to take your point at face value. I don't think you can seriously suggest that any of the 5 strikers are going to score goals in the PL. We struggled to score last season and SP eventually did come up with a system that overcame that issue but remember we had one of the most expensive squads in the Championship with some of the best midfielders in the Championship. It won't be the case in the PL.
We need a PL upgrade on Laurent who can play the double pivot with Cullen. We also need a PL quality striker. Both Flemming and Foster are good Championship strikers but I'd be worried if we tried to get through a PL season with those two...! For a start Foster can't lead a line and Flemming looks to be a bit short technically for the PL.
And we also need to keeper who can act as the 11th player, which all means we'd have to find real quality players of a particular type between now and the start of the season. A tall order but hopefully plans are afoot.
I think you could be right that we will fail to get the players we require as we did in Dyche's first season, VKs PL season and SPs Championship season but you seem to tacitly suggest this is desirable.
None of that is to say you are wrong but you have to believe there are more signings before the start of the season because nothing else makes sense.

The shirt number makes no difference. JRod was our number 9 last season and he only started 8 out of 29 games while he was here and that was only due to Foster or Flemming being unavailable.

Re: Summer transfer window
Surely we aren't in the running for Mason Mount?!
Dubious (recent) injury history, but let's be real here - that'd mean two CL winners in our squad, which is just f*****g mental for our club.
Even more mental if you don't think he'd represent a significant upgrade on Josh Brownhill/Aaron Ramsey/Mike Tresor for that attacking midfield or '10' spot.

You’re the kind of poster that means people who have genuine information don’t want to post. You take it that it must happen if it’s mentioned, and if it doesn’t come off, that poster is a liar.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 8:03 pmSo we are looking for someone currently playing in London, along with currently dealing with both Manchester clubs, whilst negotiating 3 players as part of the Trafford deal, whilst also having Cajuste being a done deal
I was right for over a year about Trafford, but Newcastle almost ruined that, as did Chelsea.
We did have Ortega, Bobb (loan) and Mactee (loan with obligation) on the table and still might have them.
We do have conversations with the red side of Manchester ongoing.
But you’d be amazed how many enquiries/intial chats lead to nothing, how many articles Tony will have written, including Driver, that he’s had to shelve or bin, and how players and agents release information to manipulate or manage the market.
Ease off the sarcasm and the moaning and let people post rumours!
