Re: Summer transfer window
Sunderland must think they have a decent defence after last season, you have to defend goals as well as score them.
Re: Summer transfer window
What is the obsession with Sunderland? They’re doing their business and we’re doing ours. We can only control what we do. We can’t rely on 3 teams being worse than us, we have to do our thing and see how it goes. Just chill out and try to enjoy it.

Brilliant isn't it? They'll be safe by October, just like Sheffield United had run away with the league three years ago.

The tweet that links Browny to Leicester also says "he admires the project at #LUFC but doesn't know if it's reciprocal"

Re: Summer transfer window
Brownhill to LCFC makes sense. Wants a challenge. The impending points deduction provides just that.

Re: Summer transfer window
Wondering if Brownhill might have overplayed his hand a little, and backed himself into a position whereby we ended up moving on and deciding to gamble on Ramsay/Tresor/Flemming/Hannibal as our No10 solution?
I think there may well be another DM to come in just yet, to play alongside Cullen / Hannibal with Laurent very much as backup
In the PL, Brownhill maybe just isn't as enticing a prospect as his demands might have required him to be....

Note the title of this thread. It is not Burnley Summer Transfer Window.
Re: Summer transfer window
Do we think we will hear more news tomorrow after the new PSR cycle start for us?
Re: Summer transfer window
I’m aware, thanks. I was just asking why people were obsessed with Sunderland. It’s bizarre.

Re: Summer transfer window
I’ve commented on this multiple times but there seems to be some confusion.
We could sign a player today for £10m on a 4 year deal, and the amortisation contribution to the 2024-25 accounting period would be immaterial (£6750). We could have signed someone in the past week and that would range from £6750 (today) to £47,000 (7 days ago), also immaterial. When I say immaterial, I’m meaning for PSR reasons. It’s highly probable we were enough above the line, prior to Trafford going, but particularly with that sale, definitely well above the line.

Re: Summer transfer window
This is the problem with wrong information, if repeated often enough it becomes fact. This window will follow pretty much how most do, some signings at the start 1 or 2 in the middle and then a few at the end.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 3:28 pmI’ve commented on this multiple times but there seems to be some confusion.

It feels like the 90s and Boxing day sales are 24 hours away and punters can't wait for some.
Re: Summer transfer window
I still think we see signings tomorrow.
Re: Summer transfer window
At the risk of upsetting people, and in lieu of any Burnley news, Sunderland are definitely getting that Guiu on loan from Chelsea.

Re: Summer transfer window
Not bothered about that, I wouldn't want to waste a premier league loan on someone so inexperienced. I'm sure he's got talent but he's only played 6 top flight games plus 13 in the Spanish third tier.

Re: Summer transfer window
Fully agree with that, I would much prefer us signing Vardy (20 years his senior) for a year.northernpowerhouse wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 5:48 pmNot bothered about that, I wouldn't want to waste a premier league loan on someone so inexperienced. In fact I would rather Vardy comes in than anyone else at this moment in time.
Re: Summer transfer window
This may be wishful thinking, but if we are after kinkoue, adopo, diouf (if that was ever happening) they are all French and Tchaouna and Esteve may have played with them at some point. Wonder if they are involved in trying to get them to sign here?

Are Espanyol doing any transfer business in the window ?

Re: Summer transfer window
I wouldn't have thought we will be signing centre backs, having six already, ie Steeeve, Worrall, Humphreys, Beyer, Tuanzebe and Ekdal competing for two positions.
Sean Dyche managed with just three, ie Tarks, Mee and Long in the Prem for many years!

I thought Beyer was back in full training and raring to go as was Tressor and Ramsay

I don't know if this has been shared before:
Exclusive: Burnley have made a bid for Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka. Fee around £2m.
Newcastle prepared to sell with Aaron Ramsdale set to sign for the club.

I don't get the understand the love Broja gets and the subsequent valuations. He hardly ever plays and rarely scores when he does123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 8:52 pmIt’s not a link but I think Broja at Chelsea would be worth a punt on, either perm or loan with option

He's a good player and the type and position we need but he's been injury plagued recently I think.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 8:52 pmIt’s not a link but I think Broja at Chelsea would be worth a punt on, either perm or loan with option

Re: Summer transfer window
I remember going down to Southampton a good few years ago now and Broja was excellent for them. He got the better of Tarkowski physically on a number of occasions and not many forwards could do that.
Unfortunately, that was so long ago now we still had Dyche in charge and Cornet I think was making his debut for us. He's not kicked on whatsoever since then.

Injuries have plagued him but if fit he definitely has the physique and attributes for the premier league . He will likely end up with a loan move again.

Re: Summer transfer window
Regarding the Dubravka link, he is Ok as a keeper, a slight downgrade on Trafford, but is 36 and has never played much so one could ask if a 38 game season is too much for him physically and mentally.
I could reluctantly accept that if money is tight and the bulk of Traff’s fee goes to a striker of the calibre of a Mikautadze or Mitrovic, somebody of that ilk. But if that isn’t to be the case I’d prefer us to lock in that defence again with a high calibre keeper signing - like Pope, Livakovic, the Brazilian guy from Botafogo etc.

Clearly we are very close to a breach, even with the Trafford sale.

You mention dubravka being able to play 38 games. The Brazilian keeper from botafogo was a 29 and only played 83 games in his career. Livakovic would be the keeper for me, don’t think he would cost more than 10mCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 9:54 pmRegarding the Dubravka link, he is Ok as a keeper, a slight downgrade on Trafford, but is 36 and has never played much so one could ask if a 38 game season is too much for him physically and mentally.
