Isn't he a Crystal Palace player? Only on loan at Wimbledon?

Yes, previously playing for us is a negative for me. I had the blinding insight whilst on cheap French beer that we will have very little to spend over summer if we keep all our assets, and Ings is probably the best we can get.

If ings is probably the best we can get, then we are in deep trouble.

Re: Summer transfer window
I wouldn't go anywhere near Danny Ings. His time has passed and he's simply not PL material anymore. I'd rather see Foster up top and that's saying something - at least Lyle can run a bit! The only ex-Claret we should even consider this summer is Michael Keane. We should be bringing in players who can genuinely compete for the first team, which Keane would, otherwise it's a waste of a wage.

He is rumoured to be notoriously difficult when he digs his heels in make no bones. Newcastle found that out when he wouldn't shift on the guehi valuation & also ensured olise signed an extension & even then also ensured he wouldn't be facing palace in the league he could have easily sold him on to 1 of the top 4.

Re: Summer transfer window
I don't mean to labour this point, but the last striker we had was Chris Wood. Our top goalscorers since have been wingers. We need a big physical presence up front to at least release the pressure when we are defending.
Last time in the EPL our top scorer was Larsen with 6

Re: Summer transfer window
There is talk of Guardiola feeling his squad is too large and he can't keep them all motivated (Grealish not even in squad on Sunday and De Bruyn did not start in his very last game). There is one young player there in Macatee who is an awesome talent, and a season on loan with the likelihood of starting every game (to suit City), would be out of this world. I saw him play in the flesh this year and he is brilliant. Did really well at Sheff Utd two seasons ago on loan, plus he knows where the net is

Would need some legs around him though as not sure he will see an awful lot of the ball for us next season

McAtee? We got a spare £30m for one player?

Doubt McAtee will cost £30m. Might get to the equivalent of €30m. He's likely to have a number of suitors. No chance.

Re: Summer transfer window
I think there’s a deal that can be done to get the fee to 30m for us.
Maybe something like 20m rising to 30m with add ons and low buy back clause.
Although as Taio is suggesting there’s already 3-4 other premier clubs after him so I suggest we have no chance.
Manchester United is probably the better option for us. They are in dire straights financially and will be desperate to sell some young guns for the straight profit they will get for PSR.
I would be interested in Harry Amass at Left back and Toby Collyer in the middle of the park.

Re: Summer transfer window
Not necessarily Ashley Barnes years ago went for relative peanuts from the Brighton owner. Sometimes you have a combination of the selling club not realising the value & the buying club sniffing out a bargain. Keeping with the parish theme now that dougie has left that might not be as possible or more difficult than it was once.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 4:24 pmI must've missed all these generous chairmen/owners that we've dealt with as a club.

Re: Summer transfer window
Had a quick scan through.
Absolutely no chance we sign McAtee. Even if we could afford him - which we can't, fee or wages - he wouldn't be interested in joining anyway.
Seen fans mention Callum Wilson a lot too. He'll be on way more than any player at Burnley is on. Can't see us smashing our wage structure for him. But like McAtee, not that he'd join anyway.
All my opinion, of course.

Re: Summer transfer window
Callum Wilson can only be signed on a pay as you play deal with his injury record. That's for any club.Pickles wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 8:00 pmHad a quick scan through.

Why insult him for that? Im sure you enjoyed putting the contradiction in bold type and editing the post. But it's pretty clear the translation is "potentially perhaps a deal could be done at that level, but if other, more established teams are in for him then probably no chance regardless"

Re: Summer transfer window
Any club? Doesn't seem right. But if that's correct it still doesn't change much. His agent will be asking for an amount to offset the times he may not be playing. I reckon it'll be £70k minimum. Besides, I just don't see him coming. So many of the names on this thread are players who'll have better offers and not be interested in a (probable) relegation battle.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 8:04 pmCallum Wilson can only be signed on a pay as you play deal with his injury record. Re: Summer transfer window
Anyway, back on topic, Newcastle United have informed Espanyol that they will trigger goalkeeper Joan Garcia's £20M release clause if they can agree personal terms with him.
https://x.com/ToonMouthTyne/status/1927258346115006492
Which surely puts an end to the Trafford to Newcastle speculation.
