I personally think there is a decent kitty, Cornet is obvs our No1 target. I personally think we will get 3 or 4 in. I think a couple of the signings like Lennon are virtually agreed and set up but until we get our main target in we wont know exactly where we are finances wise, as shown by the supposed increase of 10k a week we have offered Cornet.

People forget before click bait we relied on dial-await. Ten minute introduction and then usually something taken from the paper you had already read, or even from the previous matches programme notes. I remember the frustration well, standing in the hall with the family playing hell you tied up the telephone line

Not argument from me on that front.
It still won’t stop folk saying that Cornet is stalling, we need to give him an ultimatum etc etc etc…..they’ve no idea what’s actually happening, but feel qualified to say exactly how it should be handled.
It’s the same with the takeover, nobody other than those involved know the detail but it doesn’t stop all the guesswork and conjecture around how much money we do or don’t have and what will happen if we go down etc etc etc etc.
As I said, tedious.

I sincerely hope your correct, even Cornet, Hughes & possibly Lennon as a squad filler on top of Collins and Hennessey would represent a decent enough window, and make the squad significantly stronger than it presently is.Cleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 1:20 pmI personally think there is a decent kitty, Cornet is obvs our No1 target. Don't think Cornet is off to the Toon. Steve Bruce quoted in interview saying signing anyone else is impossible due to finances. Could be a smoke screen?

It could also be that Cornet’s agent is drumming up “interest” from other clubs to hurry Burnley along…..

Think it's West Ham to worry about re Cornet.

Think what's tedious is folk posting their meagre thoughts on the thoughts of the board and manager! Must account for 95% of this thread., None of us know what these are, so any comment is pitiful!

Reading some of these comments, the club really can’t do right from wrong.
Cornet is everything the majority of us have been screaming out for.
No player grows up wanting to play for us. It’s all about the money, and why anybody thinks differently is deluded.
The party line when selling Burnley FC, which I’m sure it will be, is that if you have a couple of good seasons with us, we won’t stand in your way if a big offer comes in.
We get a profit, or at least a return on our outlay, and the motivation is there for a player like Cornet to showcase himself on the biggest stage, knowing he is at a club that will help him progress and fulfill his dreams.
Everyone is a winner.

Discussion about transfers are fine, jumping to conclusions and criticising people based on nothing of any substance isn’t. It’s that that becomes tedious.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 2:17 pmIt is when people don’t understand this is a discussion thread about transfers. Just go back over the last few pages and look at the criticism of a player we haven’t even bought yet because ‘he doesn’t want to be here’.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 3:04 pmIf I find anyone doing that I’ll be sure to let you know

It makes me laugh when people in here think the destination club, surroundings and area they live in, play any particular big part in a players choice of joining a club!
Players are mercenaries who drag their children away from their school, school friends and other friends on a regular basis over their career without batting an eyelid... They are only interested in who pays them the most and if you think otherwise, you are incredibly naive!

I guess that's why all the world's best players went to play in China and Middle East when they were paying top dollar.BigChaCha wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 3:15 pmIt makes me laugh when people in here think the destination club, surroundings and area they live in, play any particular big part in a players choice of joining a club!

That’s true to a certain degree but the excess as got to be worth the extra inconvenience, a player could easily decide on a reduction if something was offered slightly extra at the opposite end of the country from where he was based/settled.BigChaCha wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 3:15 pmIt makes me laugh when people in here think the destination club, surroundings and area they live in, play any particular big part in a players choice of joining a club!

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
the best thing that could happen for us is we buy Cornet for 15, stay in the PL because he has a blinder, then at the end of next season we sell him to a bigger club for 50 - that has to be our process to not only make money but to attract players who see the path.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Exactly. Also if he’s just ‘decent’ then he’ll stay here for a while and perform well for us and probably sold for a little profit. What we need to avoid is expensive players who turn out to be ****.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 3:29 pmthe best thing that could happen for us is we buy Cornet for 15, stay in the PL because he has a blinder, then at the end of next season we sell him to a bigger club for 50 - that has to be our process to not only make money but to attract players who see the path.

Lucky Alan Pace invested in that crystal ball then
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
That's broadly speaking the same path as Accrington, who are also a little (in their case, very little) fish in a big pond. Coleman is on record as saying he wants to sign players who do not want to be at Accrington. He wants to sign players who are better than Accrington's level but haven't yet had the chance to prove it.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 3:29 pmthe best thing that could happen for us is we buy Cornet for 15, stay in the PL because he has a blinder, then at the end of next season we sell him to a bigger club for 50 - that has to be our process to not only make money but to attract players who see the path.

Exactly this. I gave this exact speech earlier today. We want players who are going to be too good for Burnley, that move us forward as a club whilst also allowing them to move on to bigger and better.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 2:26 pmReading some of these comments, the club really can’t do right from wrong.
