Sign Eriksen + Vardy + the other signings coming in = We stay up
Massive call to say we stay up but I wouldn’t be against signing both of those to.
If we were to let Worrall/ekdal and Delcroix go for example, I wouldn’t be against signing lindelof either.

I wouldn’t turn my nose up at him and Oxlaide-Chamberlain coming in.
Ox would be another option but don’t know if we have room for both

It is odd how long the two Chelsea lads are taking to be signed, given both Ormstein and Scrafton reported they were having a medical over the weekend / Monday.

Terrible opinion. For someone who knows so much about things you'd know he's injury prone and is well known to not knuckle down. On a retirement tour for anyone stupid enough to take him.

I heard Broja can't get through the airport without setting the metal scanner off! Good job we won't be playing in Europe.

Sounds like Ornstein jumped the gun a bit to me. There’s every chance we could sign both the Chelsea lads but maybe we weren’t as far down the road as he made out.

I think one of them has had his medical and the other is due for his. Sometimes the club can be very late announcing, there was one not too long ago where the announcement came three days after the actual signing although I’m not saying that’s the case here.

He was sensational for Brentford. If he's still capable of those performances then it'd be a hell of a signing.
That was a third of a season, three and a half years ago.
RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 5:33 pm
Runners / duel winning around him of Ugochukwu and Hannibal could work. Rotation option I think. Final third numbers at United last season up there in the top league percentiles.
And United were absolutely porous from front to back. I'm not doubting his quality but all I'm hearing is how pragmatic, defence first we're going to be and how this is going to be what keeps us up and I don't see how Eriksen fits into that.

I think he’s features in games where we try be bit more aggressive, aka Sunderland, Leeds, Everton, Wolves etc….
We can carry someone with that level of technical ability in them sort of games with the legs of Cullen and Lesley

Eriksson getting brought on to stand over a dead ball or fk with ten mins left fills me with a lot more hope than some of our previous incumbents for sure.
I know we've got some lads who understand the tactico side a lot more than me but they want to be getting on to Scott to put him straight asap, these 3-4-3 and 5-4-1s that we're definitely gonna be playing despite having played that formation 0 (zero) times in any of his games, including this preseason. We're running out of time!

Will be interesting to see who leaves in the next few weeks. I’d expect us to utilise the two premier league loans , and if/when we do then we will have to free up some more room

Would be happy with all of Ugochuckwu, Broja, Dubravka, and Eriksen. A nice mix of youthful energy and experience. A mix that we maybe lacked 2 years ago.

Seems there’s legs In this Errikson link. If we manage to get him the 2 Chelsea lads and keeper from Newcastle we are in a very good position compared to the last time we went up.

Eriksen stats for 2024/25
Denmark
10 Appearances (all starts) - 4 Goals & 3 Assists
Manchester United
Premier League
23 Appearances (11 starts) - 1 Goal & 2 Assists
Europa League
9 Appearances (5 starts) - 2 Goals & 3 Assists
FA Cup
1 Appearance (1 start) - 0 Goals & 0 Assists
EFL Cup
2 Appearances (both starts) - 2 Goals & 1 Assist
So across the season he made 45 appearances (29 starts), imo that means he is capable of being more than a bit part player for us. If he wants to come to us (was happy at a similar sized club in Brentford) and a deal which suits both parties can be agreed. Then it is a definite yes from me.

Wonder what the future holds for Aaron Ramsey? If Eriksen signs, he could be out on loan again in the Champ.

Ramsey is clearly a talent but he’s not going to progress being a bit part player, I think a loan would be the best move for him.
But in the same breath when the club spends 12-14m on a player you want to see a return for that, not loaning them out.

Sure Boro would have him-he did brilliantly there three seasons ago. Would also get lots of game time I suspect

That is valid, I also think he'd be the nearest thing we'd have to Cullen, so could play instead of him (when required). He is technically excellent and can keep the ball moving in tight spaces.

A loan till January would be ideal for everyone, mentally as well as physically for him. He has had a very long lay off.

Ugochukwu quality signing. Offers exactly what we need in the middle of the park. Physical, wins the ball back and crucially can break forward with the ball when given the opportunity.

I've had a look at his xSBB (Signed before Broja) ratio and it's 0.17, indicating that it's irrelevant.

Since he can’t add up £20m and £25m I’m finding it hard to believe
Reminder to all that Chelsea previously leaked that we agreed a deal of £32m for Maatsen that Williams later denied was anywhere near that fee.
Great signing though. Massive, athletic defensive midfielder with some premier league experience.

The prices will probably be with large add ons. I can't see us paying silly money up front for a previously injury prone striker. I would rather we pay more for players who have been in the Premier League and have massive potential than bringing in unknowns from abroad. I don't think many of their players who don't make it with them flop elsewhere.
